Th market was just repricing the value of the shares. With a book value of about 70c and applying a discount common to real estate companies at present of say 40-50%, the price seems rather reasonable. The market was looking for NAV of $1 and above and also a distribution of a handsome dividend which is not happening.

Actually not really true. The price has run up from mid 20s to current price. Essentially, the sale has already been priced in during the run up. If one recall, the potential sale news was out when price is in mid to high 20s then. | ||||

Wee Hur falls after announcement of exit from Australian student dorm business
The company is selling its purpose-built student accommodation portfolio to Greystar
SHARES of construction engineering company Wee Hur : E3B -10.53% fell on Tuesday (Dec 17) morning, after the group announced that it is selling its Australian-focused purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) portfolio for A$1.6 billion (S$1.4 billion).
As at 10.04 am, the counter tumbled by 8.4 per cent or S$0.04 to S$0.435, with 16.5 million shares changing hands.
The share price then rose to S$0.44 at 10.20 am, still down 7.4 per cent or S$0.035, with 17.3 million securities transacted, before falling again to S$0.435 at 10.29 am.
No married deals were recorded in early trade, based on ShareInvestor data.
The company also announced on Monday that it would lift its trading halt, after calling for one last Friday morning.
Earlier on Monday, Wee Hur confirmed that the fund&rsquo s trustee, Perpetual Corporate Trust, agreed to sell all seven of its assets in the PBSA portfolio to global real estate investor Greystar.
The group said that Greystar had expressed its interest in acquiring the PBSA portfolio back in October 2023. However, Wee Hur had said previously that there were no significant transactions related to its PBSA business in Australia, and refuted an Oct 15 article in The Australian Financial Review, which reported that Greystar was acquiring its PBSA business in the country.
It only disclosed that it was in early-stage confidential discussions with a third party, which &ldquo may or may not lead to a transaction&rdquo .
Wee Hur will receive proceeds of about S$320 million from the divestment, pending shareholders&rsquo consent and regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.
At present, it holds a 50.1 per cent stake in the PBSA portfolio. The remaining 49.9 per cent is held by GIC-linked investor Reco Weather.
Although the proposed sale involves the trustee disposing 100 per cent of the PBSA assets in the portfolio, the company will still retain an indirect stake as its Australia subsidiary will acquire 13 per cent of Greystar&rsquo s equity.
Reco Weather, however, will no longer have any interest in the fund.

You should voice yr feedback to mas etc.. make as much noise as possible? if all failed.. you satisfy at least you tried to make a difference? these people are so high up and comfortable.. but do ask tough questions and make them uncomfortable and protect us as minorities..

So kind of you to have the thought that changes are forthcoming, The great Mr Chee. Under the present framework SGX as a company is making money including lending the " scrips" to short sellers! The management is so well remunerated! So those in power would they really want to make changes???? LOL LOL LOL

Ya, so why is our market punishing Wee Hur by pushing down the share price after the supposedly great announcement??? Any explanation from experts here? Other than shortsellers who have made $$$ shorting the share. That' s our SGX for you. Still not vested..yet. I will buy when good sense in SGX prevails.... which may mean 1 year from now when and if the SGX/MAS task force under Minister Chee make their recommendation.
