before posb bail up dbs ,dbs was the smallest bank in the island, then it acqauired dao heng bank and some chinese banks and taiwan bank and ah neh bank and took over as the largest bank in sg and from the second largest bank in sg after uob took over oub it becomes the third largest bank after ocbc
