Tawana Resources to unveil new backer, secures life on ASX Lithium producer Tawana Resources has secured a $40 million funding lifeline to secure its long-term future on the Australian Securities Exchange.  Street Talk understands Tawana will announce as early as Wednesday that it has agreed a $40 million debt funding package with an Australian institutional investor, believed to be Tribeca Investment Partners.  The funding is expected to mean Tawana can pass a going concern test, as required by ASX listing rules, and that it can continue to trade on the exchange following its merger with Singapore' s Alliance Mineral Assets Ltd.  The $40 million agreement caps a frantic week for Tawana.      The company announced this time last week that it could not meet the so-called " Emphasis of Matter Requirement" and the merged entity was unlikely to be able to trade on the ASX-boards.  Tawana made a last ditch effort to secure the necessary funds on Thursday, and nutted out the deal with Tribeca across the weekend. It is expected to be back trading on Wednesday.  It' s understood the debt facility was priced at about 10 per cent or slightly higher, and will not include warrants. That means Tawana should be able to say it is cheaper funding than signed by fellow listed junior Altura earlier this month, which stitched up a deal at 15 per cent.  The merger will be voted on by Australian shareholders in October and is expected to close in early November. The pure play lithium producer will become the largest mining company in Singapore. The deal was pitched to shareholders as a chance to create a pure-play lithium company with a proforma $425 million market capitalisation. That means it should be big enough to get on the radars of mid cap institutional investors, which would otherwise be hard for Tawana to capture.

Let us look at actual figures. Since Sept 8 to Oct 26. On Sept 8 the share price open at 22c and closed at 21.5c. Selecting this point as it roughly point AMAL hit it low, and roughly begins the point you started claiming how powerful shortists were and would not let share price rise with big walls being put up. Since Sept 8 to Oct 26 there have been 29 days in which AMAL shares have traded. Days when in trading halt already excluded. For those 29 days AMAL traded a total of 9,461,200 shares were shorted. Total volume during the period was 538,487,400. Percentage of shares shorted to total volume is a meager 1.757%. Let us consider different scenarios. In each scenario will apply your golden rule that &ldquo shortists do not leave an open position overnight&rdquo . Hence, each day the shortist is opening a position and closing it that day. Scenario 1: Applying your &lsquo Golden Rule&rsquo , and let us assume you short at the highest price of the day and close it at lowest. And let us assume you the only shortist, so you responsible for all short trades. Based on the above scenario parameters, and crunching the numbers, the total accumulative outlay is $2,776,512.00 with a return of $3,003,435.50 hence, an accumulative profit of $226,923.50 But Scenario 1 is quite unrealistic as the average price of shorted shares each day is always below the high of the day. For example, on high for the day was 29.5c but the average cost of shorted shares was only 28.1c. So let us focus on the average shorted share price per day. Scenario 2: Applying your &lsquo Golden Rule&rsquo , and let us assume the average shorted price per day for opening of position, and close it at lowest. And let us assume you the only shortist, so you responsible for all short trades. Based on Scenario 2 parameters the accumulate return is $2,905,074.00 and accumulative cost of $2,776,512.00 leaving a total accumulated profit of $128,562.00. But let us be realistic. You unlikely to have a golden ball to tell you precisely what will be the low price for the day. So let us assume that you cover the position once it dropped 1c from the daily average price of shares shorted (or lowest share price for day if it greater than daily average price of shares shorted less 1c). Scenario 3: Applying your &lsquo Golden Rule&rsquo , and let us assume the average shorted price per day for opening of position, and close it at higher of (a) daily average price of shares shorted less 1c or (b) lowest share price for the day. And let us assume you the only shortist, so you responsible for all short trades. Based on Scenario 3 parameters the accumulate return is $2,905,074.00 and accumulative cost of $2,818,395.00 leaving a total accumulated profit of $88,679.00. Under Scenario 1 if you the only party shorting you would have made a total accumulated profit of $226,923.50 whilst being a low of $88,679.00 under Scenario 3. As said above Scenario 1 is highly unlikely as nobody got such a golden ball of knowledge to open a short at high of day and close it at low each and every day. Hence, total accumulative profit is more likely to centre somewhere between Scenario 2 and Scenario 3. But the above scenarios all based on you being the only person shorting. What is the probability of that? Let us pick a very conservative number that 10 shortists involved. Based on that from the period Sept 8 to Oct 26 the average profit each of the 10 shortists would make would have been between $13k to $8k. Let us now consider a longist. For simple illustration, let us assume a longist bought the same amount of shares that were shorted during the period Sept 8 to Oct 26 that is, 9,461,200 shares. Now assume the longist made the purchase at opening price on Sept 8 and sold it all at closing price on Oct 26. The opening price on Sept 8 was 22c and closing on Oct 26 was 38c. Total outlay on Sept 8 is $2,081,464.00 and the amount received was $3,595,256.00, giving a profit of $1,513,792.00. But let us be fair and assume the longist did not buy all on Sept 8. For simplistic illustration let us assume the vwap from Sept 8 to Oct 26 as the average purchase price of the 9,461,200 shares. The vwap from Sept 8 to Oct 26 was 31.9c. Based on this then total outlay to acquire 9,461,200 shares at the vwap from Sept 8 to Oct 26 is $3,015,842.97 and if sold at closing price on Oct 26 then amount received is $3,595,256.00, resulting in a profit of $579,413.03. So the profit of the longist is running from $1,513,792 to lower end of $579,413.03. In comparison the shortist under the most optimistic case (having a magic ball) only gets an accumulative profit of $226,923.50 though in reality more likely around $128,562.00. But let us be fair to the shortist. Obviously not every longist going to grab 9 million plus shares. So let us just say that for every shortist there is 100 longists. So for every share shorted 100 longists would buy a share. During the period Sept 08 to Oct 26 the volume traded was 500 million plus shares. If follow earlier suggestion that there are 10 shortists then based on ratio of 1:100 then there is 1000 longists buying during same period (accepted unrealistic but just for illustration). So let us assume an average longist bought 500,000 shares (500 million divided by 1000). If the average longist bought 500,000 shares at open of Sept 8 and sold all at close on Oct 26 then purchase is $110,000 with receipt of $190,000 getting a profit of $80,000. If assume the vwap from Sept 8 to Oct 26 (that is 31.9c) then purchase is $159,400 with return of $190,000 and profit of $30,400. So the average shortist (based on a very conservative suggestion of 10 shortists) would be only making between 8k to 13k. In contrast, a longist (and assuming there many more longlists than shortist) would average between 30k to 80k. I accept the assumptions I utilize are broad. But the numbers are clear and if you do your research and crunch the numbers then it perfectly clear any claim shortists are making money hand over fist relative to longlists during the period Sept 8 to Oct 26 is a clear myth. Just do the maths. Hey, I may be wrong so prove me wrong as happy to be shown. But to anyone, just look at the number of shares shorted during the period and apply the so-called ' Golden Rule' of shortists, and crunch the numbers yourselves. Even trying to be generous and say only 10 shortists active during the period means they barely making reasonable profit relative to longist. The actually numbers are available for people to research and to do their own research in crunching numbers. If crunch the numbers then think IMO it comes clear that suggestion shortists making bundles relative to longists since early Sept is a myth. But DYODD. In  Sep 2016, I started to take note  of AMAL when they talk about Lithium mining.And that is where I started to read about Lithium articles, especially on  Li-Ion battery for EVs.And as they says ...the rest is history. Nowaday, It is really not difficult to look up for information as long as you are keen to find search in the internet. It search me that why this Cindy 829 says that I post  that comment.
