I agree that the gap is wide but look at the management - UOB management is good but DBS is EXCEPTIONAL
Premium is for Gupta - he could easily run JP Morgan or any US bank

If DBS can bear and have courage to pay more dividends, even up to say 40 cents per Quarter, am pretty sure this will wake the market up to its promise and potential.  If not, he can jolly well keep quiet.

Piyush Gupta, DBS CEO, notes that the bank will be a beneficiary of rising interest rates. " A one basis point rise in US dollar interest rates typically translates to a net interest income uplift of S$18-20 million for us."

Singapore STI has just went below 3000 major support level . All 3 big banks result Q3 ...is coming up  UOB 28th Oct, DBS 3rd Nov and OCBC 4th Nov ALL BEFORE THE MKT opens Personally , I think all 3 will still give off a good set of results for Q3. Barring any high special provision ( due to potential NPL ) , they should still have a good set of results  w continue NIM and even AUM growth . Trading profit should be lower.  Except for DBS , OCBC n UOB do not give dividend for Q3.  Dyodd |

*CLSA views : DBS - BUY (Investors' Forum 2022 takeaways)* DBS had no material changes to its FY22 guidance from 2Q results: ie, exit NIM around 2% from rising rates (maybe few bps higher), mid-single-digit loan growth pressure on wealth fees (c.35-40% of non-II income) C/I falling with NII lift and asset quality not a concern for now. But it is also keeping a close eye on various model stress tests for the uncertain macro outlook the weak link appears to be SG and HK SME portfolio (c.6.5% of book). It acknowledged an excess capital situation, likely to be discussed towards end-year. *Retain BUY, S$41 price target*. |

UOB is a cool $6 cheaper then DBS and yet have a much higher book value ....does it justify the price gap of $6 ?  ( yes knowing profit performance is not as good as DBS and dividend slightly less 1.20 vs 1.44 )  Time will tell if this gap will be closer .  Dyodd |

DBS Group Holdings, on Sept 13, announced that it has made sectoral targets that are aligned with science-based decarbonisation glidepaths in its report, &ldquo Our Path to Net Zero &ndash Supporting Asia&rsquo s Transition to a Low-carbon Economy&rdquo . Glidepaths refer to the carbon emission pathway to the desired target set. According to the bank&rsquo s report, it has set decarbonisation targets in seven sectors that include power, oil and gas, automotive, aviation, shipping, steel and real estate. The decarbonisation targets go beyond the bank&rsquo s institutional banking lending book and will cover capital markets activities. In addition, the bank has set data coverage targets in two sectors, food and agribusiness and chemicals. The nine sectors, which make up some 31% of the bank&rsquo s outstanding loans, represent the most carbon-intensive banking segments financed by the bank. Among the seven decarbonisation targets set, six of them &ndash power, automotive, aviation, shipping, steel and real estate &ndash are set as intensity metrics with the objective to achieve lower emissions per unit of output or activity. See also:  SGX, MAS launch web tool that auto-generates sustainability reports An absolute emissions reduction target has also been set for the oil and gas sector. The bank has targeted to reduce the absolute emissions in the sector attributable to DBS by 28%. The bank&rsquo s oil and gas target will cover Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. While many are predicting a crash mths or even years ago ...( easy not to set a TIME factor ) ...STI is moving back towards 3300 ......Our economy under an able and long term planning is growing again ( after the pandemic) .. I guess the question is NOT about when the next crash or doom arrives ....BUT are WE with the right mind ready for it .  Nett carbon zero by 2050 seem tough but achievable and needed.  Happy investing.   |

" Dividend is 1.44 vs 1.20  Hmmm.  Happy investing  DYODD |

Rate is a double edge sword .....if it is well managed ( like our banks where NPL are provisioned and all tightly controlled ) , it should be fine barring any major collapse  Over the next 2 qtrs , I think we can see our banks continue to grow ( and giving our good dividend )  Spore banks have all done good stress testing.  Dyodd

Sept would be another round of rate hike .....0.5 or 0.75 ....whatever , NIM is going to drive our 3 banks growth for 2022.  OCBC w 28cx2 ( dividend ) can be even more basing on their payout ratio for 1H ... a good set of result .  Dbs too ....BUT is it fully value at over 1.5X its book value ? yield 4.5% On the other hand UOB  is a cool $5+ cheaper at cool 1.1X its book ( yield also aro 4.5%)  So it is again a matter of which bank you prefer? ....but whichever u choose , we can expect our 3 banks to be paying out good dividend of over 4% or even more can next round  Happy investing. |

¾ An interim dividend of 28 cents has been declared, 12% or 3 cents higher than the 25 cents interim dividend declared a year ago. ¾ The interim dividend payout will amount to approximately S$1.26 billion, representing a payout ratio of 44% against the Group&rsquo s 1H22 net profit Wow ONLY 44% payout ratio ....so having room to go , 30c end of the year is very possible DYODD Happy investing    |
