This only happens in a bear market hence the terminology 'bear rally'.
And of course you don't see it in a bull market. So it is all normal.

According to CEO Lutansa, the airline is making losses at the rate of 100 millions Euro (S $1.55m) per hour and needs the nation''s help to survive. The daily passengers number now is 3000 compared to 350,000 before.
All scoots planes are now grounded while SIA has about 3 flights a day to carry cargo (yes passenger planes almost with no passengers on board but loaded with cargo). Recently the cargo are mainly face masks and protective gears from China to Europe via Singapore. |

The purpose of SIA participating in the public equity markets is to raise (cheaper) money when necessary. This helps its competitiveness against other national airlines balance sheets.

If SIA has enough cash to tie over the pandemic, there is no need for the rights issue. It is calling for cash from the public at the expense of share dilution and a definite drop because of a perceived cash flow problem if Covid drags on. The whole world has to be clear of Covid before it can return to the pre-Covid normalcy. For example if all except Indonesia are cleared of it, the world still cannot free-up.
Ah Kong is not interested in shares price. It only doesn't want SIA to file for Chapter 11. And Ah Kong is not know to pump or dump or support or what not with tax payer''s money. SIA too, I believe doesn't have an in-house trading dept like the banks and ....we all know which ones. So ex-right, it will just float with the market forces. |

Don' t waste time replying to shortists who spread fear and negativity energy during this period of time. Shortists have their own agendas, they are not saints to help you to make money. Just like many people complaining about analysts' calls. |

I got my answer from this article
https://www.google.com.sg/amp/www.asiaone.com/money/why-im-not-buying-sia-shares-even-after-temasek-promised-save-it%3famp Key points below extracted : Based on SIA's current share price of $6.03, I will get shares for an average price of $4.21 each if I buy in today and subscribe to the rights issue. That seems cheap - but it really is not. As of 31 December 2019, SIA had a net asset value per share of $10.25. But that will drop substantially after the rights issue. The rights issue will increase shareholders' equity from $12.1 billion to $17.4 billion, or an increase of 43 per cent from 31 December 2019. At the same time, the number of shares will increase from 1.2 billion to 3 billion. After the dilution, the net asset value per share will fall to around $5.80 per share based on SIA's last reported financials. I also expect SIA's net asset value per share to fall even more than that because of the heavy losses suffered as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In the quarter ended 31 December 2019, Singapore Airlines incurred about $800 million in staff costs, $210 million in aircraft maintenance expenses, and $522 million in depreciation. Most of these fixed costs will likely still need to be accounted for during the period of near-zero flights, despite SIA grounding its planes. These costs add up to around $0.50 per share per quarter. Together with the upcoming dilution and the heavy losses, Singapore Airlines' shares could have a net asset value of close to or even less than $5.30 per share in the future, depending on how long the pandemic lasts.

Of course I know that you made money when you shorted at the beginning from 9 March before Temasek announced the rescue plan.  All shortists made money in that week or two before the rally begun. What I am asking you whether you dare to short now since you are so bearish about the company. Do you still have short posiiton in SIA? Obviously no.

I think the longer your time horizon the better the chances of the share price eventually appreciating. In 6 months i doubt it will move significantly higher or lower. I would suggest to those with the holding power to view it as a 3-5 year investment, the shorter your time horizon the more luck you need to flip to make a profit. I suck at gambling so i prefer to invest with a long term view beyond 3 years at least.
