Increase was mainly due to higher patient load, increase in average bill sizes and higher revenue intensity. Group&rsquo s profit after tax from continuing operations for 1H2018 was $6.9 mil compared to $9.9 mil in 1H2017. Profitability period was affected by higher operating expenses due to cost inflation of goods n services, higher manpower and wage costs, business expansion costs and transaction costs arising from the VSA. Net finance costs were higher by $1.8 mil mainly due to additional bank borrowings taken as part of acquisition of a healthcare business and an increase in borrowing rates in 1H2018 compared to 1H2017. Higher tax rate of 37.7% in 1H2018 compared to 28.5% in 1H2017, mainly due to higher non-deductible expenses, lower tax utilisation of capital allowances n absence of one-off tax incentive utilised by a subsidiary in 1H2017. The discontinued ops reported loss of $0.6 mil in 1H2018 compared to a profit after tax of $4.6 mil in 1H2017. Overall, revenue for the Real Estate Business was 6.6% higher, due to new revenue contribution from AC Consortium Pte Ltd and Ariva Pte Ltd which were acquired on 30 June 2017 and 28 February 2017 respectively. Profit after tax decreased by 112.0% mainly due to lower fair value gain of $3.2 mil in 1H2018 compared to $7.1 mil in 1H2017 which arose from remeasurement of the purchase consideration payable. |

Half yearly result out MEDIA RELEASE THOMSON MEDICAL GROUP REPORTS HEALTHCARE HALF-YEAR EBITDA OF S$23.4 MILLION Singapore, 14 August 2018 &ndash SGX Mainboard-listed Thomson Medical Group Limited (&ldquo TMG&rdquo , or &ldquo the Group&rdquo ), one of Asia&rsquo s largest listed healthcare players, today announced its financial results for the first half ended 30 June 2018 (&ldquo 1H2018&rdquo ) for its healthcare business following the acquisition of Sasteria Pte Ltd on 25 April 2018. TMG recorded EBITDA of S$23.4 million on the back of total revenue for the first half of the year at S$105.5 million. This is the first report of the financial performance of the Group&rsquo s healthcare business. On a year-on-year basis, adjusted EBITDA rose 4% to S$23.4 million from S$22.5 million. Revenue rose 8% from S$97.6 million to S$105.5 million. The improved performance from the healthcare business was driven by higher patient volume, higher revenue intensity and higher average bill sizes.
