 Alert Admin 		Just sharing - I've noted that the order number remained at 76 at 0.002 from 9am till now (after ~26m shares traded). It's possible that the individual got a huge number of shares at 0.001 and is offloading it at 0.002 currently. 100% earning for him/her but it gives new investors a chance to come in at 0.002 cheaply w gold priced > 2000 at the moment.

Despite having a mine that for FY2019 produced 41,000 ounces of gold (more than CNMC&rsquo s 31,000 ounces in FY2018), Liongold (LG) may be the gold mining stock that slipped your mind.

Its recent history may be mired in controversies, but it has real ongoing operations of quite a large scale (FY2019 revenue of S$70 million).

The chart above shows LG&rsquo s share price since its steep fall in September 2013. From July 2016, it has been trading between S$0.001 and S$0.002. [except for a gap between June and December 2018 when, although there was trading, the share price stayed at S$0.001].

The ups and downs between S$0.001 and S$0.002 is probably due to the subscriber of its convertible bonds converting, selling or buying when opportunities arise.

The minimum share price to be traded on SGX is S$0.001. The minimum next bid is S$0.002 (a 100% increase).

The price of gold has been inching up and in July 2019 broke past USD1,400 per ounce, a price not seen since April 2013. If global economic and geo-political tensions do  not abate  we could see the  gold price continue to rise  due to its role as a safe haven asset.

An article  by Bloomberg about Petrochina &ldquo An oil behemoth that' s worth less than its energy reserves in the ground&rdquo is worth thinking about in the context of Liongold&rsquo s share price of S$0.001.

Let&rsquo s try to see what Liongold is worth based on its ore reserves.



But before we do that, here&rsquo s an update on corporate developments at Liongold, which may partly account for its low share price.

Gold production at Liongold



Liongold&rsquo s mining operations are in Victoria, Australia, with tenements in Ballarat and several other fields nearby.

In the 12 months ended 31 March 2019 (FY2019), LG produced 41,830 ounces of gold. Production costs in Australia are high, and although FY2019 revenue was approximately S$70 million the net profit after tax was only S$279,000.

Compare this with CNMC which in FY2018 had revenue of US$39.55 million and net profit of US$5.34 million.

It is possible that if LG&rsquo s production increases further, ore grade improves, and gold price rises, significant economies of scale will set in and boost net profit.

The Table below shows Liongold&rsquo s production, costs of production, and selling price of the gold produced.

Calculation of Liongold&rsquo s fair value share price based on ore reserves



*Ore Reserves are based on IQPR Report as at 31 March 2019

*IQPR = (Independent Qualified Person&rsquo s Report) is JORC 2012 compliant.

*JORC is Joint Ore Reserves Committee, an Australian standard for evaluating minerals resources.

Probable Ore Reserves is ore reserves which are economically viable to be mined with at least 50% likely to be recovered by drilling.

As at 31 March 2019, Liongold had Probable Ore Reserves of 82,000 tonnes with 6.6 gm of Au (gold) per tonne grade. This translates to approximately 540,000 grams of gold which is approximately 19,000 ounces.

Assume price of gold is USD1,400 per ounce. 19,000 ounces = USD26,600,000 = approximately S$36,000,000.

Divide by the number of issued and paid up Liongold shares which is 8,698,161,000

The value of gold reserves per LG share is S$0.004 versus its current share price which vacillates between $0.001 and $0.002

Conclusion



Based on 19,000 ounces of gold, the value of gold reserves per LG share is S$0.004. Other factors to take into account for investment decision-making:
  1. The next IQPR study (which for SGX mining and mineral stocks must be done at least once a year) will likely upgrade Indicated and Inferred Resources to Measured Resources and perhaps increase the Probable and Proven Reserves.
  2. The coming corporate developments with a new majority shareholder (Yaoo Capital Pte Ltd the investment vehicle of two China investors) will not only wipe off all debt but perhaps lead to an injection of working capital to increase exploration drilling and production).

From the perspective of its mineral assets, there is some basis to say that at its current share price of between S$0.001-S$0.002, LG is (like what the Petrochina article says) &ldquo worth less than its assets in the ground&rdquo .

In the 12 months ended 31 March 2019 (FY2019), LG produced 41,830 ounces of gold. Production costs in Australia are high, and although FY2019 revenue was approximately S$70 million the net profit after tax was only S$279,000.

Compare this with CNMC which in FY2018 had revenue of US$39.55 million and net profit of US$5.34 million.

It is possible that if LG&rsquo s production increases further, ore grade improves, and gold price rises, significant economies of scale will set in and boost net profit.

The Table below shows Liongold&rsquo s production, costs of production, and selling price of the gold produced.

*IQPR = (Independent Qualified Person&rsquo s Report) is JORC 2012 compliant.

*JORC is Joint Ore Reserves Committee, an Australian standard for evaluating minerals resources.

Probable Ore Reserves is ore reserves which are economically viable to be mined with at least 50% likely to be recovered by drilling.

As at 31 March 2019, Liongold had Probable Ore Reserves of 82,000 tonnes with 6.6 gm of Au (gold) per tonne grade. This translates to approximately 540,000 grams of gold which is approximately 19,000 ounces.

Assume price of gold is USD1,400 per ounce. 19,000 ounces = USD26,600,000 = approximately S$36,000,000.

Divide by the number of issued and paid up Liongold shares which is 8,698,161,000

The value of gold reserves per LG share is S$0.004 versus its current share price which vacillates between $0.001 and $0.002

Conclusion



Based on 19,000 ounces of gold, the value of gold reserves per LG share is S$0.004. Other factors to take into account for investment decision-making:
  1. The next IQPR study (which for SGX mining and mineral stocks must be done at least once a year) will likely upgrade Indicated and Inferred Resources to Measured Resources and perhaps increase the Probable and Proven Reserves.
  2. The coming corporate developments with a new majority shareholder (Yaoo Capital Pte Ltd the investment vehicle of two China investors) will not only wipe off all debt but perhaps lead to an injection of working capital to increase exploration drilling and production).

From the perspective of its mineral assets, there is some basis to say that at its current share price of between S$0.001-S$0.002, LG is (like what the Petrochina article says) &ldquo worth less than its assets in the ground&rdquo .
