The group said results were dragged down by a fall in earnings contribution from Great Eastern Holdings (GEH), OCBC&rsquo s insurance arm. The bank has proposed a final dividend of 23 Singapore cents per share, up from 19 Singapore cents a year ago. The estimated total dividend payout will amount to S$1.82 billion, representing a dividend payout ratio of 40 per cent of the group&rsquo s core net profit in fiscal 2018. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	A great set of result even when GE is down ....21% increase in final dividend ( payout 40% still hv room to improve) OCBC Group Full Year 2018 Net Profit Grew 11% to a Record S$4.49 billion Fourth quarter earnings from banking operations rose 22% Proposed final dividend of 23 cents per share, up 15% from 2018 interim dividend of 20 cents Singapore, 22 February 2019 &ndash Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited (&ldquo OCBC Bank&rdquo ) reported a net profit after tax of S$4.49 billion for the financial year ended 31 December 2018 (&ldquo FY18&rdquo ), up 11% from S$4.05 billion a year ago (&ldquo FY17&rdquo ). This was driven by record earnings from the Group&rsquo s banking operations which rose 22% year-on-year, led by income growth, disciplined cost control and lower allowances. The Group&rsquo s FY18 return on equity increased to 11.5% from 11.0% a year ago. The Group&rsquo s total income climbed to a new high of S$9.70 billion from S$9.53 billion in the previous year.

Great Eastern Q4 profit falls 68% to S$137m on market volatility WED, FEB 20, 2019 - 8:27 AM GREAT Eastern reported on Wednesday a  68 per cent fall in net profit for the fourth quarter, roiled by volatile market conditions.  Net profit for the three months ended Dec 31, 2018 stood at S$136.9 million, down from S$426.8 million for the same period a year ago. The quarter registered " unfavourable financial market conditions" in particular, and in contrast, the year-ago fourth quarter registered exceptionally high gains from higher valuation and sale of investments, the insurer said in a media statement. Operating profit from the insurance business alone for the fourth quarter was up 5 per cent from a year ago to S$171.6 million.  But with the market volatility, Great Eastern registered a loss in shareholders&rsquo fund&rsquo s investments of S$45.4 million, swinging from a gain of S$182.7 million in the same period a year ago. The group' s total weighted new sales fell 30 per cent from a year ago, in the absence of a " product campaign" for the year-ago period. Correspondingly, the new business embedded value for the insurer dropped 7 per cent for the fourth quarter, compared with the year-ago period.  The results translate to earnings per share of 28 Singapore cents, down from 90 Singapore cents for the same period a year ago.  The board has proposed  a final one-tier tax exempt dividend of 50 Singapore cents per ordinary share.
