Well, do your own google.   Anyway, if you think a CEO and CFO is asking to be charged for misconduct, then its up to you :)

Top bank, sustainable solid earnings and > 6% yield plus expectation of additional payout - just too attractive not to buy. So long as can hold, no worry as stock will rebound, matter of time. Buy when there is fear.. same like Covid time, bought UOB at 18+, sold at 23+, think within a year, cos bit worried then.. 1yr+ ago bought again at 27+ and still holding, also for OCBC.

Share price does not affect DBS.   It can drop to $1 and DBS will continue doing whatever it is doing.   Contrary to what most people think, big banks actually perform very well during recessions.   This is the time when they typically buy up and makan the smaller banks.

Whether the CEO or CFO predicts future dividends NOW,it is not a guarantee. In addition,it needs to be confirmed if this information is really what they said. At least I have not read such a specific dividend target in DBS' s annual report.

Does recession mean that the bank will lose all their business? That they have to dig into their reserves for operations?  That is a big assumption.

Just curious, what if recession coming and DBS crashing down to $18 next week, would DBS dig into the retained earnings to cover their operations and dividends would be gone? This is something I guess can be very ambiguous as no one knows how the CEO would react if DBS crashing down and affecting their profits.

Not just Gupta but Sok Hui, the group CFO as well.   And its based on retained earnings (in the bag) and not future earnings.   Neither will risk being charged under SFA especially when Gupta sold $m in shares when it spiked after his comments.

Not a matter of anyone lying, but when the facts change so does the dividend, so unless he gave a promisory note take what all CEOs say with a pinch of salt, the market dictates everyone else follows

So is Gupta lying when he said that DBS has no problem to maintain 216cents and increase at 10% annually for the next 3 years? And also maybe rteurn of capital while doing this?

UOB dividend pretty respectable.. Think DBS may be able to hand out something better than its recent ones. |
