Another point to ponder. The management & owner didn't buy any shares from market. Price is not lowest yet??? 

But good thing is, they also didn't sell any via open market.

It is also good that the management is focus to its core role of running the biz not playing shares :)

Long-term. Personally I think it is worth a bet. Taking away the weak 2Q result, Vard is a healthy company with earning visibility, lasting until 2016. Ship building is at mid-cycle. Vard has competitive advantage being the leader and ability to custom build advanced and larger ship. It also has long established client relationship.

Based on its current order book, up to 2QFY13, only 7 out of 44 ships are build in Brazil. Hence, I think moving on Vard will be profitable after heavy write down in 2Q.

By securing new orders, it will further enhance its earning visibility for future.

What is important now is for Vard to control situation in Brazil Niteroi Yard and find new order for under utilised Vietnam Yard. Another risk to watch is situation in Promar Yard, which should be well-controlled within desired productivity, except higher than expected start-up cost.

And most important, it declare good dividend for investors :)

 Alert Admin 		He didn't sell.. The options granted to him just merely expired. In my opinion, I feel is a very personal decision for him whether or not to exercise his options. I have no idea what's the exercise price, but if the exercise price is higher than the market price now, no reason for him to exercise also.. NOL seems like gonna rebound soon too in my opinion if the economy picks up, but I won't rush in to buy yet.. =)

There appears to be a minor resistance at $0.885 and major support is at $0.85. $0.885 or other minor resistances along the way should be cleared in matter of days to come until we face the big teddy bear waiting for us at $0.995 to $1.015. 

There appears to be a very conservative consensus estimate EBITDA margin  of 7.65% for financial year 2013 => translating to EBITDA margin of  ~7.7% for 3rd Q 2013 results. Next catalyst for Vard to really take off would be when next quarter results and EBITDA is much better than expected. Much worse, we may expect another plunge. Just some points to consider for those who intend to vest long term or who have already vested. =)

If sell now, can make small profits. 

Am expecting it to move above 0.90 region and slowly raise above 1.00 mark. But it is weaker than expectation. US$1 bln contract win also cannot push it above 0.90.... No power.

VARD wins largest-ever pipelayers



Singapore, 12 August 2013 ? Vard Holdings Limited (?VARD?), one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, is pleased to announce that it has secured contracts with joint ventures of DOF Subsea and Technip for the design and construction of four Pipe Lay Support Vessels(PLSVs).

The contracts constitute the largest order in VARD?s history, with an aggregate order value of approximately USD1.1 billion (NOK 6.5 billion).

Two of the vessels, of VARD 3 05 design, will be delivered in 2Q2016 and 3Q2016 respectively.

The hulls of these vessels will be built at Vard Tulcea in Romania and outfitted at Vard Søviknes in Norway. The other two vessels, of VARD 3 16 design, will be delivered from Vard Promar in Brazil, in 4Q2016 and 2Q2017 respectively.

The award of these prestigious contracts reinforces VARD?s position as a leading provider of large and complex Offshore Subsea Construction Vessels(OSCVs). Through this order, VARD is able to capitalize on its track record, experience and world‐ class design capabilities in Norway as well as its long‐ standing presence and investments in the Brazilian market.

The new designs have been developed in close cooperation with DOF and Technip. The Norwegian built vessels will carry pipe lay towersrated at 650 tons, among the largest ever in the industry. At 340 tons, the Brazilian built vessels will be among the most complex vessels ever constructed in Brazil. Topside equipment for all fourships will be delivered by Huisman of theNetherlands.

I see some similarity between Vard n Rex Int'l...Happi Trading.

Vard 2nd chances, now that is back at 0.79 cents,  it can hav  short term technical rebound.

Player's may want to collect at 077c to 0.78c - Only for short term trading...Happi Trading.
