out already - but does not include PCCW since it does not report quarterly, but half yearly.  that being said - we shall see if share buyback continues today since blackout period (2 weeks prior to results release) has ended.  lets see what price and how much shares are being bought back and cancelled today, cheers

Apple  is in talks with  Alibaba  to bring its mobile payments system to China, according to an interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua. Apply Pay &ndash which allows users to hold up their iPhone to a reader and pay for items &ndash was launched in the U.S. last September and has seen" great momentum,"   CEO Tim Cook said last month. But now the Cupertino, CA-based giant wants to expand the payment system to China -- the company' s second-biggest market by revenues. " We very much want to get Apple Pay in China," Cook told Xinhua in an interview published late Monday. " I' m very bullish on Apple Pay in China."   (Tweet this)

China has become a  crucial market for Apple  and it is now selling more iPhones in the country than in the U.S. The American company has also eclipsed domestic rival Xiaomi to become the  biggest smartphone player in China.  (Tweet this) Apple was not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNBC. ChallengesWith a huge number of smartphone users in China, expanding Apple Pay into the country makes sense -- but the company will face a number of challenges. Apple Pay works on a technology known as  near-field communication (NFC), a wireless system that allows people to pay with credit cards linked to their smartphone by tapping the device on a reader. In China, UnionPay &ndash that state-owned credit and debit card operator &ndash dominates the processing of payments made by NFC. As such, UnionPay sets the transaction fees, which could be a potential hurdle for Apple in China. This is likely one reason why the technology giant is looking to partner with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, which owns its own mobile payment system known as Alipay. This uses different methods of paying for items, such as scanning a special barcode. Alibaba is also experimenting with different authentication methods, such as taking a selfie to authorize a payment. The exact details of how Alibaba and Apple could work together are unclear, but any partnership will give the U.S. technology giant a way into the mobile payments market in the world' s second-largest economy. " Ant Financial (the Alibaba affiliate behind Alipay) is open to work with various partners in order to provide secure, efficient and convenient online and mobile payment services for over 300 million Alipay users," a spokesperson told CNBC by email.

Bro, I dont know how you derive the logic that if the owner wants to privatize, the company will not buy back shares.  It' s the cheapest way to do so.  Let' s say share price is 30 cents with 20% free float.  Mr Li wants to privatize it at this point.  He would have to pay the estimated fair value 54 cents (and it could go higher depending on how much the other shareholders are demanding).  He would have to pay a fair value for 20% of the shares. However, by gradually and quietly buying back, now Mr Li only have to pay the fair value for 13% of the shares (assuming he privatize it now, ignoring he still can buyback 3%). Mr Li did plenty of share buyback at 36.5 cents.  It is only natural this pushes the share price upwards.  Mr Li then again did a share buyback to fully utiltise the 10% share buyback mandat at 40.5 cents. Now to me, this share buyback speaks volume of his intentions.  If he doesn' t have major plans up his sleeve, why would he be so aggresive in buying back shares?  He fully maxed out the previous share buyback mandate, to the very last share available.  I don' t think we' ve seen that in the market for the longest time.  Why is he so anxious to snap up whatever he can?  Given that there is only 13% free float left, he can wait to renew the mandate then buyback.  After all, he can only buyback another 3% and his share buyback mandate is 10%.  My question is, why the hurry?  No pun intended to the title of this topic, but what' s brewing? I' m certain it' s a nice stew.

fyi, i AM VESTED since 26c, and i still remain vested.  i am simply stating that RNAV / value / whatever u may call it, will not be unlocked as long as major shareholder does not decide on dividend policies etc. look at bonvests, RNAV of almost $4, yet trades at $1.30~, LTC Corp NAV $1.50, yes, NAV not RNAV, yet share price trades at $0.66, debt free. no doubt, surely, dividends from PCCW and HKT will flow into PCRD and will add value, i did not dispute it, please re-read my point. i am simply saying that PCRD does not pay dividends, and it is not a certainty (yet) that it will since no corporate action has been announced.  value may go up, BUT share price may not follow, as per mentioned in the above two companies.  as a shareholder, i surely hope that the share price goes up further. but there is no mandate for share buy-backs to DEFINITELY take place, there is only endorsement to.  a forum is for discussing thoughts, and we should always see both sides of the argument to make more informed investment decisions.  .....but if u want me to say it, sure. PCRD will go up, huat ah!   PRIVATIZE LO!!!!!!$$$$$$$  :)

I think  PCRD will not be privated. using our common sence, If Mr. Lee wants to privatise it, the company will not buy back the shares to push the price higher and higher. So the only answer he wants  to sale the company to someone else. Let' s be patient! |

not arguing.    in HK, my friends have to separately buy HKT and PCCW.  here, we buy 1 PCRD, we are buying HKT, PCCW, PCPD (one whole package, very good. no wonder they say buy package got ' discount' )  |

Don' t need to argue.  The PCRD steamroller is about to get rolling.  Those who want easy money, load up.  Last few chances before results release and blackout over. |

u say this cos maybe u let go of PCRD ' too early' and may want to ' buy back' at lower px   u forget and are simpy ignorant that ' ANY DIVIDENDS paid out by PCCW and HKT" will have to go to PCRD (it is up to PCRD to decide what to do with the dividends or cash paid out by PCCW and HKT) .....but definitely VALUE is added into PCRD
