SINGAPORE (Nov 6): Jiangsu Changjiang Electronics Technology Co., China' s biggest chip tester, entered into an agreement with Temasek Holdings Pte about buying control of unprofitable Singaporean competitor Stats ChipPac, people with knowledge of the matter said. JCET will begin 30-day exclusive talks to buy the state investment company' s 84% stake in Stats ChipPac, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. The holding is valued at $1.1 billion at the current share price. |

Hi Brothers n Sisters, a word of caution. Don' t be over hopeful hor. Coc you cld be disappointed, very disappointed. Of cours I too hope it' s really 1.30 cos then I really tiok beh piow. But I dare not dream that such will be the case. Cheers.

(STAT), people with knowledge of the matter said. JCET will begin 30-day exclusive talks to buy the state investment company&rsquo s 84 percent stake in Stats ChipPac, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. The holding is valued at S$1.1 billion ($829 million) at the current share price. The purchase of Stats ChipPac, the world&rsquo s fourth-largest provider of chip packaging and testing, would add to the $26 billion of semiconductor deals in the past year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged financial support to the country&rsquo s chip industry as he seeks to reduce reliance on foreign companies for key technologies. Stats ChipPac was suspended from Singapore trading on Nov. 3, the same day JCET&rsquo s shares were halted in Shanghai. JCET officials weren&rsquo t immediately available to comment, while Temasek spokesman Jeff Fang declined to comment. An announcement on the pact with Temasek may come as soon as today, the people said. Tianshui Huatian Technology Co., another Chinese chip tester, said Aug. 29 it dropped out of talks on a possible takeover of Stats ChipPac. Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc., the world&rsquo s biggest chip assembler and tester, had also previously considered an acquisition, people familiar with the matter said in August. |

Contra won't die, cough out with the money and pick up the shares will do. Naked short should be fine too as supposed to cover on the same day. This one halt only after market closed if I remember correctly.
