Human capital, you get who you need, and not buy over a whole bunch of old folks with no sense of urgency n need to change, seeking retirement in maybe 10 years time.  So, for a company like alibaba, with plenty of cash, buy one (singpost) - gain knowledge, and move on to new ones, where you can develop in a way you want and strip out what you dont want, n it cost much lesser and valuation is much higher for sure
