Does this mean a better 3Q result is expected though?  But cutting corners at the expense of service quality is completely unacceptable, especially given that SP is still the monopoly for basic postal services.  The regulator  ought to take some deterrent action.

Not all the postmen are like that guy lah. The postmen serviced my area, so far so good. What I did was, when door bell rang, I will shout out...." Coming....." . I always get my parcels or registered articles if I am at home. Have to collect from Post Office only when he/she came when no one is at home. I also evidenced one other postal inspector checking into the letter box on the mail delivery. In the begining, I thought this guy is postman and asked him some questions and he identified himself as postal inspector checking on the work of the postmen,

Very disgraceful service quality.  So many people colloborated that postmen failed to even knock on their doors................ SingPost delivers apology for recent ' service failures' 15 Jan 2019 09:05AM(Updated:  15 Jan 2019 10:17AM) SINGAPORE: SingPost on Monday (Jan 14) apologised to  customers for its " service deterioration" in recent weeks, citing a " tremendously busy" November-December period as the reason for poor service quality. " It would be fair to state that we have failed to live up to expectations in recent times," said the postal delivery service on its website and in a Facebook post.  In explaining  the background to  the  service deterioration, SingPost said it  delivered an average of 3 million mail items a day, but an increase in package volumes for last year' s November-December period put additional pressure on its services. Netizen Andy Lau said in a Facebook post last month that he had to chase after a delivery man when the man left after knocking at his door for a " few seconds" . " Delivery guy knocked for a few seconds, ran off and left the note before I can answer the door," said Lau. " I sprinted down and camped at his bike until he appeared. Confronted him about it and he couldn' t put his words together properly on how he waited for more than 20 minutes." Following SingPost' s apology post on Monday, its Facebook page has been inundated with complaints of poor service from other disgruntled netizens. " Recently I found a stack of letters on top of the letter box," wrote Facebook user Terrence Wang in a comment. " It includes letters addressed to me and a lot of my neighbours. Your useless postman just (left) that whole stack of letters on top of the letter box. " I got to go door-to-door to deliver the letters to my neighbours. Am I the postman of my block?" In another comment, Karen Law said: " The delivery man left my packages that are worth more than USD$100 at the door step and forged the recipient' s signature. That is totally unacceptable. When I emailed Singpost, I was given a generic reply. What' s the point of providing feedback when you won' t even acknowledge the issue and answer my questions?" Facebook user Jonathan Lau told Channel NewsAsia that he had been getting failed delivery notifications from SingPost for " as long as I can remember" - even when someone was actually at home. " The bell would be silent the whole day and I' ll get notifications when I came home," he said. " So I  reviewed my CCTV footage and found out that the postman just strolled by, dropping my regular mail together with the failed delivery slips." " He didn' t even have my parcel in hand." Posting his comment on Facebook, Lau rejected SingPost' s explanation about a surge in demand, saying that its issues were a " deep-seated problem that has nothing to do with surge in demand" . Said Lau: " I wrote to say my CCTV footage showed your driver dropping a failed delivery notice without ringing the bell. That he didn' t even take my parcel from his bike. That I had received at least 12 failed notifications that past week when someone was always home. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singpost-apology-fail-delivery-mail-package-says-sorry-11123416 |

That decision will rest with AG' s Chambers, upon completion of Police investigations.  Apart from this, the regulator shd take a serious view n impose a deterrent penalty on SP if SP has been found wanting.

bro article is in feb 2018. Now is Jan 2019. Obviously over this close to 1yr, nothing have improved at SP, on the contrary, the misdeed reports reported by the media seems to have gone up in recent mths. Last but not least, the latest incident could be amounting to fraud as SP created false evidence in a bid to deceive the customer. I reckon this is way more serious than simply throwing away people' s mall, the latest incident is with intent to deceive by purposly creating false evidence to cover up...What has our national post office deteoriate to...Sad!!!

All these boils down to one simple word:  Greed. Greed for maximum profits by businesses. It' s also the cause of the issues with FB, Google, Apple etc that are now being exposed and scrutinised in US and EU.

This country seems to have been beset by so many issues over the last few yrs.    Serious rail disruption, fatal accident suffered by SMRT  maintenance staff, SMRT staff ' cheating' on maintenance work, SGH lapses with hepatitis treatment, riot at Serangoon, serious disruption in stock mkt, SMRT strike by essential service workers, Singtel fire, serious cyber security breach at SHealth, TTSH dental equipment not fully sterilised, SPost lapses, etc ...  Could all these have been avoided?  Are all these symptomatic of something very serious .... perhaps  complacency n lack of commitment in the workforce, or training gaps or .....

The number of serious breaches cannot be seen as isolated.  Afterall, I believe postal service remains an essential service.    I think the regulator has to come down hard on such things n impose a deterrent penalty, especially given that such ' offences' continue to happen.  To me, there should be zero tolerence n a mechanism  established to ensure no recurrence.

SingPost fires postman who threw away mail 10 Feb 2018 04:10PM SINGAPORE: A SingPost  postman has been dismissed  after he was found to have thrown away returned letters and direct mail at a condominium, a SingPost spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 10). SingPost was responding to Channel NewsAsia&rsquo s query about a  video circulating online  in which a member of the public confronted the postman, claiming that he had thrown a stack of letters into a rubbish bin. In the video, the postman can be heard admitting to throwing the mail away. He also complained that he was tired and treated unfairly. Confirming that the incident had happened at a condominium on Wednesday, the SingPost spokesperson said that the company did not condone the incident. &ldquo We do not condone this and he has since been dismissed," said the spokesperson. " SingPost thanks the member of the public for bringing this to our attention, and we would like to apologise to the residents of the estate for the service lapse." " We have since retrieved the mail and will be processing them.&rdquo https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singpost-fires-postman-who-threw-away-mail-9947834

Tbx, brother, for the post.  It is so important for us to know that SP is acting in this manner.  Came as a total shock to me from an org that was a govt dept up to Sep 1982.  How can  the national postal agency ever have done this.  It' s a subject for law makres' attention, no less.  N by the way, I had sometimes doubted whether a postman actually attempts to make delivery of a registered article before leaving a note that he his delivery attempted has failed.  From what I' ve read after this, I am even more troubled.  Another pt to draw attention to is mis-posting of letters, something I had experienced several times.  This is indeed troubling.
