Kris has many challenges but it doesn' t help if First Reserve cannot find a big buyer to unload its shares. If Kris is really undervalued (I assume many of us here do not have all the information to do a proper due diligence), why are there no other buyers around? Why isn' t Keppel interested? I assume if Keppel is interested, somehow many " insiders" would know and the share price won' t be collapsing like it did. From 37.8% to 0% is a long way to go for First Reserve' s selling.

michaeltan, keppel or anyone could launch a takeover of Kris. But do you see or hear anything that may indicate anything more than just a wild hope?

WILL THIS HAPPEN TO KRIS?   DYODD! Keppel Hitachi Zosen (KHZ) today announces that a scheme of arrangement under section 210 of the Companies Act, Chapter 50 has been proposed by Keppel Corporation (Keppel) to privatise KHZ as a wholly-owned subsidiary.  After the privatisation, Keppel will transfer its 100% interest in KHZ to Keppel FELS Limited. The whole exercise is targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2002. The Scheme is subject to the approval of the KHZ shareholders, the High Court and the relevant regulatory authorities. Under the Scheme, Keppel proposes to holders of KHZ shares other than itself and its wholly-owned subsidiaries (Scheme Shareholders) an all-cash offer of S$0.60 for each KHZ share which forms part of the Scheme (Scheme Shares).  The offer price of S$0.60 per KHZ share represents a premium of 31% to the net tangible asset per KHZ share of S$0.4585 as at 30 June 2001. It also represents a 12%, 18% and 18% premium over the volume weighted average prices of KHZ shares for the last three, six and nine months respectively.

Your view is respected. However, you have focus too much of the negative aspects and feel like you can never believe Temasek / Keppel is backing the current plan of new appointed CEO. I think there is potential that Keppel may privatize Kris and team up with Keppel energy as  solutions and services across OG value chain. dyodd!

The logic break down alr... I can't believe you used "employees to do good job" etc etc as reasons to support this investment.
On company fundamentals, please... like I said a few threads ago, I can quote it again, that the company is in dire shapes. 1. Its oil and gas reserves are only 100m odd, these are producing assets. It's exploratory assets are what, 500m odd? Mind you these exploratory assets aren't real, as they don't produce value yet. SO, adjusting away exploratory assets, asset:liability ratio is pathetically Low. Which signals disaster... 2. Therefore to increase producing (or in other words, real) oil and gas assets, the company has to spend more money on exploratory caped OF WHICH THEY DONT HAVE THE MONEY! 3. And at the same time, they have to maintain development capex to continue pumping oil to sell, BUT at current production rates with their current oil and gas reserves they are still loss making! 4. So Kris is in a predicament. Should they spend money to develop and pump more oil or should they explore more? If they spend more money to develop and pump oil, their assets will decline and eventually run out of reserves, so it's not sustainable. If they explore more, they need to spend even more money, which they don't have given current operations are alr OCF negative so not sustainable also. Either ways it seems to be they are screwed. COUPLE THIS with its surprisingly Low adjusted assets to liabilities. It's a recipe for disaster.

Although it is not you own pocket money, you are being paid to do a good job as an employee of the company, you are to safeguard the company investment and look after the interest of company. It is not as simple as that. Somebody needs to answer. Temasek is not a " kucing kurap" company and where are the corporate governance and responsibility? As I have said before, I believe Temasek & Keppel Corp would not let its investment go down to drain. The company' s fundamental has not changed, and is in fact improving over the years. In terms of business connectivity and network, they are much better and stronger than before. I think Keppel Corp is refrained from providing support as an opportunity to let FR to push down the price. It was similar to the acquisition of Singmarine at &ldquo kacang putih&rdquo price in the past. Unless there are other substantial shareholders appearing for the fight, Ikan bilis shareholders are in the mercy of Keppel.

The people working in FR (or Blackstone) or Temasek are just employees. A bit like the card dealer in a casino. No feeling selling at massive losses. Just another job or task.. Afterall, the decision to sell is given by a certain investment committee. I think people in FR or Temasek do not want to let their investment go down the drain. But if it does, so what?

There seems to be 2 threads on Kris. Can we stick to this? Thanks. The selling announcements by FR, as correctly pointed out by a forumer, is on every whole percentage point change. The first selling annoucement was made on 16 Aug 2017 when its shareholding dropped to 36.97%. FR then made annoucements on every percentage point change on 29 Aug, 15 Sep, 21 Sep, 29 Sep, 11 Oct and 18 Oct, bringing its holding down to 30.84%. FR sold more than 6% in 2 months. The pace quickened from 1% every 2 weeks in August to about 1% per week since 21 Sep. At 1% selling per week, it would take 31 weeks for FR to complete selling. If we assume FR slows down or stop selling when it is down to 11%, it would be 20 weeks. This stock is dead money for at least 5 months. |
