If they are good, they will find alternatives. No need to worry for them. Who has never been laid off? Rare indeed is such a luckyguy!

Definitely true for those who wanted to leave anyway.  But I suspect in general the longer term prospect for these people with respect to alternative employment is not great. |

not necessarily bad for employees as they may have retrenchment benefits.

5.2 cents already collected in Dec 2023. That was the interim dividend for 2023/24,  a 1H dividend.

The minutae of the company&rsquo s performance is just noise. The key determinant of Singtel&rsquo s valuation is its capital recycling policy. What it announced today on this front is, on the face, a continuation of the slow but steady pace by management towards trying to catalyse the underlying value of the company for shareholders (hence the muted share price reaction despite the decent dividend figures). S$6bn is not ambitious at all in the context of how much the Bharti stake is worth today. However, one has to acknowledge that Singtel cannot transparently disclose a significantly bigger number for fear that it reveals ahead of time some transaction sensitive information (as may have been the case with Optus). Therefore the reality is that if and when the catalyst arrives for a rerating of this company&rsquo s share price to bring it to the underlying value, it will come as a shock to the market rather than something that the company guided to in advance. Meanwhile, one is paid to wait with a 6.5% dividend yield that is guided to increase materially each year. | ||||

Yeah, tangible way to reward shareholders and demonstrate financial strength. Singtel is truly undervalued. Time the world rediscovered what a national treasure we have.

Insights from Singtel' s CFO interview with Bloomberg this morning. 1. Revenue was down because Singtel sold loss-making businesses that contributed to revenue but not to the profits 2. Dividend has increased, and with that, Singtel is trying to send a strong message to the markets of their confidence in the company 3. Strong SGD against other currencies (i.e. AUD, IDR, INR...etc) has not helped as about 70% of their profits come from outside of Singapore   |

No worries Potato, The 15 cents come from the interim dividend of 5.2 declared last November plus 9.8 declared today.
