STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

Mr. Yao reply to SGX' s query was that the mine operations was not affected by the section of the collapse

If mining operations was not affected, then the result should be okay

We will know when the full year result is out.

What I am concerned about is the cost to make good the section of the tunnel that had collapsed

Another issue is the drilling machine that was covered by the tonnes of rock material

Understand from ABC' s report that this machine cost several hundreds thousands

Please note that the sell down was not by the two major shareholders - Mr Yao and JMP

This is important because any sell out by them will cause all shareholders to lose confidence

What has happened is that the price movements has completely destroyed the confidence of normal retail investors. As with some other counters over the past 2 years. When that happens, no matter how good the fundamentals, it would take a long while to climb back up. Unless someone frys it - i.e. movement will never be based on fundamentals already.

There is still hope for fundamentals and future prospects to play a big role in shaping stock price, but the window of opportunity is thinning significantly as the management decides to stay silent.

As much as I hate to say this, but if really after result release and results turn out to be disappointing (way worse than expected level of disappointment for most), there is a very high chance this stock is gone and will have to keep in freezer to go through ice age, or investors have to cut loss.

The panic selling was caused by the tunnel collapse incident, safety issue and workers problem

The REA is a side issue, not really important.

In the worst case scenario, if SY can' t get the licence, they can sell it off.

As Mr Yao only bought the mine for $23 million, he can easily sell it off for a profit and used the money

for the other business.

I am of the view that they can overcome this setback as long as they comply with the regulator requirements.

Let us not forget that the state of Victoria stand to benefit because they get a royalty fee of 2.75% (a few millions a year) and SY provide

Job for 200 over people. Right now, the unemployment rate in Australia is still very high, so it is in the government interest

to keep the people employed.

One mistake that Shen Yao made is to get a Chinaman to run the mine. It would be better to get an Ang Moh as Australia is

quite biased and racism considering the not so good relationship between China and Australia
