NO fundamental change at all to APTT, the price drop is due to force sales (by SGX) of units held by Chinese Nationals: they are NOT allowed to hold APTT shares by Taiwanese law!!! It is right time to accumulate as the yield is > = 13% !!!

agreed that disposal of the prc shares has very little impact. but this share px correction is very unusual. more like stock trying to find its true value (like hph) regardless of the high payout and also partly market sentiments.

Actually I do not think it is due to force selling by APPT as the amount is very small. Only 17k units. It was reported to have been completed on 2nd of April.

I feel the price drop is just rotational plays due to the dividend distribution period being out of sight for now. Just before the next distribution (around middle of June), I expect the price to rebound again.

Asian Pay Television Trust declares DPU of 1.625 cents for 4Q17

SINGAPORE (Feb 26): The trustee-manager of Asian Pay Television Trust (APTT) is declaring a distribution of 1.625 cents per unit for 4Q17 ended Dec.

This brings total distributions to 6.5 cents per unit for FY17, unchanged from FY16 and the trustee-manager has also re-affirmed distribution guidance of 6.5 cents per unit FY18.

APPT reported 3.6% higher EBITDA of $51.8 million for 4Q17 ended Dec. This came on the back of a 0.9% rise in 4Q17 revenue of $84.7 million. Sales from basic cable TV in Taiwan came in 1.6% higher at $68.3 million, premium digital cable TV saw 4.5% lower sales of $3.8 million while broadband sales were 0.9% lower at $12.6 million.

For the FY17 ended Dec, EBITDA was 6.4% higher at $201.4 million while total revenue rose 4.9% to $334.8 million.

The manager says foreign exchange contributed to a favourable positive variance of 1.3% for 4Q17 and 5.9% for FY17.

Shares in APTT closed at 57 cents on Friday.

Annual dividend was 8.25% from launch of IPO in 2013 to 1Q 2016 but reduced to 6.5% in 2Q 2016 due to capital expenditure for conversion to digital TV. With the completion of the digital conversion in 2017, we can expect more upside in the stock price this year.

Don' t think the write-up is accurate. It has never distributed 13.4 cents before. I believe it' s around 8.5 cents or so.
APTT is a defensive counter and not expected for significant growth. Strengthening of Taiwan dollars help raise its revenue (and payout), which is a good thing.

Found this article below which gives a very good factual presentation of the company.
However, every investment is a good investment so long as the investor is able to buy in at low, reap the gains and then exit at high when it' s time to do so. With this strategy, even Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies can be a highly profitable investment.

Profitability

Looking at its revenue over the past 3 years, there has been little change ranging from 4-5%. For its latest earnings for 1Q2017, the trust reported total revenue of $82.6 million compared to $77.8 million a year ago. That translates to a 6.2% increase in revenue.

However, we should note that this is due to a strengthening of the Taiwan dollarby almost 8% so far this year. In Taiwan dollars (NT$) terms, total revenue for the quarter was actually 1.4% lower.

Turning to its net profits, there is a significant drop after FY2014 by about 60%! It used to stand at $114.3 million in FY2014 compared to the current net profits of $47.5 million.

Distribution

With regards to its distribution, the Trust intends to distribute 100% of its distributable free cash flows to shareholders. Distributions will be made on a quarterly basis each year.

We can observe a downtrend in its distribution per share over the years. It currently lies at 6.5 cents, a 51% drop compared to 13.4 cents in FY2013!

Moreover, its payout ratio is consistently above 100%, which means that its earning is insufficient to cover the distribution to unitholders. Hence, APTT may have to take on more debts or tap into their reserves to finance the distribution.

Over the years, its long-term debt has increased by 37.8% from S$943 million in 2013 to S$1300 in 2016. A further look at its retained earnings shows a consistent dive into the red every year.
