In this case, the key to look at is the controlling / substantial shareholders. TH is the majority sh for Stel, holds large stakes in the other two. N TH will act behind govt policies n practices. So, if govt intentionis to enlarge the telco pool, TH will not facilitate M& A in the industry.

No sure how much cheaper yet. Hope so...though i will not benefit from that. Hee.... I met some oversea suppliers, they are already laughing & preparing to scoop more $$$. Anyway, i think that would be good for the telco employees, at least one more place to job hop & may get better benefits.

MDA and Singtel should answer why sports subscription rose a lot after Singtel tendered a very high price for EPL and subsequently the World Cup. Talk of competition is healthy. For whom?

Ha..to me the 4th telco will only make oversea suppliers, laugh. Will that benefit locals, hmm...yet to know. Even if that benefit should be only a bit in term of $$, most benefits will still go to oversea suppliers. What is the difference between 3 & 4 telco??? Please let IDA answer us first, how come 3 telco not enough to compete?? And our bodies will be exposed to one more carrier, good or bad noone know. Most like waste of resources again. Anyway, IDA will not bother, they will try and see. More operators, then they will have more fun & be treated like king or queen.

SINGAPORE (Feb 18): The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore has unveiled a spectrum allocation framework to facilitate the entry of a new mobile network operator (MNO) to boost competition in the mobile market. IDA will make available 60 MHz of spectrum from the 900 MHz and 2.3 GHz bands for the New Entrant Spectrum Auction, at a starting bid price of $35 million, down from $40 million originally. The New Entrant Spectrum Auction will take place in 3Q2016, and spectrum rights for the new entrant will commence in April 2017. A General Spectrum Auction will be held after the conclusion of the New Entrant Spectrum Auction and be open to the incumbent MNOs - M1, Singtel and StarHub - as well as any new MNO which emerges. --- How will General Spectrum Auction benefit incumbent MNOs ?? |
