MAYBANK Securities has lifted its target price on Singtel : Z74 0% by 5 per cent to S$3.40 from S$3.24, after its associate, Bharti Airtel, said last week that it would raise mobile prices across various plans. On Monday (Jul 1), analyst Hussaini Saifee said the new target price could be attributed mainly to a higher valuation of Singtel' s 29 per cent-owned associate, Bharti Airtel. He expects the price hike of 10 to 21 per cent to raise Bharti' s India mobile revenues by 7 to 9 per cent for the fiscal year 2025 to FY2027. This projection came after the analyst factored in a price elasticity of 60 per cent and assumed a nine-month impact for FY2025. |

Good for Bharti (and hence for Singtel) and for all the other indian mobile operators in an uncompetitive market. Not so good for poor and middle class indians.

SingTel associate Bharti Airtel raises tariffs by 10-21%
The Edge Singapore Published on Fri, Jun 28, 2024 / 02:10 PM GMT+08 / Updated 1 day ago On June 28, Bharti Airtel announced that it is raising tariffs by 10-21% for all its prepaid and postpaid users on July 3. The move is an attempt to shore up average revenue per user (ARPU). This comes a day after Relaince Jio raised rates by 12-15%. Bharti Airtel has maintained that its mobile ARPU needs to be at around INR300 for a "healthy business model" in India, and to be able to invest in network technology and spectrum. The Indian telcos last raised tariffs in 2021. Singapore Telecommunications owns around 29% of Bharti Airtel. The Singapore listed telco's share price has been rising since mid-April and is up 12.2% this year. |

Malaysia' s integrated telco and technology leader, TM, is partnering Nxera, the regional data centre arm of Singtel' s Digital InfraCo unit, in a joint venture (JV) to develop data centres in Malaysia, starting with a sustainable, hyper-connected AI-ready data centre campus in Johor. This strategic partnership aims to serve the needs of hyperscalers, next-generation AI application providers and enterprises pursuing accelerated digitalisation and cloud in the region. The joint venture is bolstered by the extensive subsea cable networks of TM and Singtel' s Digital InfraCo,
which provide global connectivity and enhanced network performance with lower latency and improved reliability. Located in Iskandar Puteri, just 16km from Singapore, the data centre campus will be the largest to date for both TM and Nxera. It will be built to the latest standards for reliability, security and sustainability while offering the best local and international connectivity. With its close proximity to subsea cable links between Singapore and Malaysia, the data centre will be well-placed to support the increasing demand from both countries' s digitalisation and development initiatives. On June 15, the joint venture company (JVCo) had proposed to acquire a plot of freehold land in
Mukim Pulai, Johor. Measuring approximately 168,959 sq m, this land parcel will house the upcoming data centre facility. The purchase consideration for the land acquisition is approximately RM178.2 million ($51.2 million).
The initial phase of the data centre is planned for 64MW and can be scaled up to 200MW in response to market demand. Nxera MY and TM DC Educity will hold stakes of 49% and 51% respectively in the JVCo, ST Dynamo DC, a newly incorporated |

For SingTel CFO to finally come out of the shell to speak to the public, it really means they are more confident to deliver needed growth and earnings. The key message I gather is that the last 3 years are their low points due to COVID and 5G coming together, it can only get better moving forward.. | ||||

Thanks for sharing Interesting to see Singtel trying to engage their stakeholders thru such channels If I had invested in the banks in the last 3 years , I would reposition the portfolio and buy into Singtel now cos the potential for a growth story is stronger in the telco now compared to the banks..
