The 295m is for 51% of NAV for the 12,450 cars which is 51% of 642m (about 327m). Is it really that much of a steal?
"A car rental firm boss who didn?t rent out to Uber / Grab drivers told me that he would not buy any of these cars simply because of maintenance issues: while these cars are technically one to two years old, their mileage is crazily high, almost that of a ten-year-old car."
Sure it does contribute to the engineering arm, even if $1000 per year for 14,000 cars, you need over 20 years to recoup your investment.? Sure it may help reduce driver outflow and maybe increase taxi rental, but it really depends if Uber can fight with grab(so far uber not really doing a good job). To make it worst, the remaining taxi companies got the same deal uber offered without paying a single cent. Just expressing my concerns thanks

Current remain comfort drivers just wan more jobs orelse.pls cut rental..if reallybo choice..jump...that why silver cab growing.. so comfort choose to join uber rather than grab why?? 1) uber got.0 taxi and yet grab got.10k taxi 2) all know uber esp those outisde southeast asia...dont be surprise..lots of india and angmo are using uber in sg rather then grab... 3) most taxi drivers dont like.10% or 20% comm per call..they dont mind pay 60c per jobs 4) uber dont let drivers know where the destination b4 booking..so successful rate higher..better for us 5)comfort lost a lots of.corporate clients due to phv...with phv...comfort may able to get back some.of them 6)now only left 1.competitor.to fight..grab.. lol

I' m curious about the definition of utilization rate. If Uber gives out promotion on the rest of these idle cars, like free rental for first 6 months, and drivers snap it up, is CDG obliged to buy them over?

Until now nobody is confirmed on LCR' s debt level. Some say its 1 billion. If consolidated into CDG' s balance sheet, whats the gearing ratio by then? Also, any goodwill in this transaction? If the balance sheet and p& l statements is going to look horrible going forward, will there still be dividends? Or will management use this as an excuse to conserve cash for their big battle with Grab?

CDG is buying only12450 PHVs, not the entire fleet of 14k PHVs lcr has.
The remaining 1550 PHVs are idle cars.
CDG will buy them if the utilization rate increases.
It is in the new release.

I think DTL is still under the old model, operator collects revenue and best the cost.
TEL then is the new rail contracting model like bus contracting model.

Phv is a much bigger pie..think got 60k drivers..taxi in total only 26k..phv drivers cant drive taxi..but taxi driver can drive phv....by buying...instantly increase another 14k phv and think around 12k phv income ( 2k idle)..and that is a lots of money....
1) comfort wan a bigger pie in sg rental market..do nothings will seeing their drivers returing their taxi daily and cant do anything..cut rental will retain them will need cut all bal 12k taxi..big money los 2) comfort dont need to cut taxi rental to retain those wan jump grab. If u wan phv. ..join comfort uber..same.with better service 3) comfort need to replace 7400 sonata taxi with toyota prius or electric car..as they wan to remove all disel car ..if cannot rent out..lcr can sell comfort ..and it is much cheaper than getting from toyota..by replacing sonota ($90)..to prius $126 daily..7400 *36 also a lots of money..all lcr still got got scape value 4) very few people get taxi license nowadays..hard to attract people..so supply limited...and driver need 30 years old and above..so comfort must change..they set up a training school with e2i..training taxi and all phv drivers..those below 30 can join phv.. 5) comfort share movement is decide by funds...we got no say...we only can wait for our 4 to 5% dividend yearly.. last. Coming friday is a witching day and year end window dressing coming ..expect some big movements on big cap counters...

If today CDG own taxi all fully utilized and rented out then this is a good deal. If already have idling, then don?t understand why need to buy so much more. | ||||

Sir, not targeting at you lah and with due respect. The Grab-SMRT and CDG-Uber are two completely diiferent transactions. Does SMRT own any Grab PHVs or not? Does SMRT get any rental income from Grab' s PHVs or not? SMRT (and all other non-CDG taxi coys) tie up with Grab is a very very loose tie up, meaning the taxi drivers can use Grab' s apps. Even CDG taxi drviers are secretly using Grab' s apps. But CDG is BUYING 51% of LCR cars, do you expect the cars to come FOC for CDG? The using of Uber apps is a BONUS. Give you an example, if you buy brand new car at $140k from an authoirsed agent, say Borneo Motor and the package comes with 3 years free servicing at their workshop. The car is the transacted good, the 3-year free serving is the thrown in bonus. So for CDG, the LCR cars are the transacted goods, the using of Uber apps is the thrown in bonus. Of course whether this prce is good or not is subejcted to hot debate, but I' m sure nobody here agree it should be FOC. Cheers!

CDG pays $642 to buy Uber' s LCR so that they can use Uber' s app.
SMRT, Premier, Prime, Trans-cab and  HDT  paid nothing to form alliance with Grab. In Oct  Grab signs exclusive partnership with SMRT and Grab drivers  can  have access to SMRT workshops and service centres under this new partnership.

In total close to $500m. over $200 million got written off. $300million with little returns. But that was due to corporate governance issue.

And not everything are operated by SBS. Anyway, with the current news, we can only wait to see if comfortdelgro has bottom in advanced before the news, or it would continue to dive.

CDG don' t own or run the MRT. They only have 60% stake in SBS which operates the MRT. MRT is owned by LTA.
