Any existing share holders who encounter rights issue, 99.9 percent will confirm lose money. Even if you get to buy at the lowest price during Cr, most probably you will still lose money

hi all, Need your advice on my situation: I shorted SIA quite a while ago at 4K shares @ 6 bucks. I closed 2K shares @ 4.4 (gain $3.2K). Based on current price of $4.09, unrealised gain for balanced 2K is $3.8K. However, the price of my short position for SIA R (6K right) is $1.06, which means my unrealised loss for rights is ($6,360) That' s strange as the overall gain/(loss) is only 640 bucks. Based on my previous calculation, ex-right price is 4.4 bucks. If I short at 6 bucks, I should earn $1.6 per shares (or $6.4k for 4k shares). Cheers, Kevin |
