x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Revenue fall from handset sales are likely temporary blips n are likely not too difficult to address.  In any case,  I believe  margins from handset sales is  probably not significant to be a major profit contributor.    From what I read from the local papers this evening, I think the main profit dampener is technological evolution in mobile communications, especially long distance overseas calls.  Revenue for auto roaming n international calls all fell substantially.  Believe this is due to other means now available for people to be in touch across the globe considerably more cheaply, like Whatsapp, internet calls n easy availability of low cost international calls enabled SIM cards overseas.  So, such revenue falls are likely here to stay n get even more eroded.  But from what I read, they are focusing on areas of growth.  It wld take time of of course for a meaningful turnaround.  In the meantime, probably brace ourselves for lower dividend for sometime perhaps. investshare      ( Date: 18-Oct-2016 18:56) Posted: NO wonder share price dropped recently. Operating revenue fell 10.3% to $249.1 million in 3Q16, compared to $277.6 million in 3Q15. M1 says this was mainly due to lower revenue from handset sales, which fell 28.9% to $51.9 million in the quarter ended September, from $73.0 million in the same period last year. Finance costs surged 43.6% to $1.9 million for 3Q16 due to higher borrowings and interest rate. EBITDA fell 13.9% y-o-y to $74.6 million for 3Q16. ?Based on current outlook and barring unforeseen circumstances, the decline in net profit after tax for the year 2016 is likely to be around the year-to-date range,? M1 says in a filing to SGX on Tuesday. Year to date, M1?s 9M2016 earnings have declined 12.6% to $117.9 million, compared to $134.9 million in 9M2015. ?The needs and behaviour of our consumers and corporates are changing rapidly. We will continue to make network investments to provide our customers with a superior and all-encompassing experience while also tapping into new growth areas in data analytics, IoT and other solutions,? says M1 CEO Karen Kooi. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Look at Go Ahead! It made a mess of the East side bus transport. Tendered at lower price than  Tower Transit (tender highest price for Western Region, obviously can give better treament to bus drivers), so Go Ahead may have to Go backward as the its bus drivers are resigning. So if the 4th Telco bid at the higher end may have the same fate as Go Ahead. Telco prices are more or less factored in for 4th Telco. If M1 dropped another 10c, many investors will buy more.
