Let me share a juicy interesting research piece by L& T some 2.5 years back, which focussed on a potential takeover by MBK, which bought Accordia the parent. Spoke of a 93cents possibility. If the acquirer gathers sufficient units at lower prices from the open mkt to trigger an MGO, he may still not get a consensus from the remaining unitholders to release their holdings. A good eg of this would be UMS Andy Luong' s ' attack' on JEP Holdings a few mths ago. In the end, Andy' s Offer laosed without any results, and he is holding a huge stake now in JEP HLdgs,... though this is not really a bad thing.

These ann' t' s are dangerous,... an ann' t like this is just a pre-emptive ann' t, it is not a sure-go event. But when an ann' t like this is released, unitholders will read ' only the sure-go meaning' behind the ann' t, and put in trades to chase the event. Everybody buys up in anticipation of a good cash-out price (privatisation price) by the acquirer later. After this, if everything becomes silent for a certain period, the price will drop back. |

I think the only positive we can take away is that someone BIG really thinks this is a severely undervalued asset. Else, why bother to take over and go to the extent of buying out individual shareholders? Much easier to do a PE deal with unlisted assets.

OMG - Hope its M& A and not MIA !!! For Accordia - hope its like $1 cash out. Something like what we got for Croesus. Irresistible. But, I am a bit pensive. This is a FREEHOLD Trust and with the Tokyo Olympics and 3 Japanese Casinos coming in soon - things can only improve from here. Chinese gamblers would love to golf and gamble, wine and dance.
