x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Bro Shampain, Thank you for your interest in my postings.  When I say  something,  I make it a point to be clear  and to  use illustrations and analogies whenever possible,  to argue my case. Coz I am mindful that there may be some out there who are  eager  to learn and will appreciate  a helping hand to navigate through this jungle. Hence, I take the trouble to write and to explain my  thoughts  when I state a view. And  then leave it to the forumners to draw their own conclusions. Let those who have eyes see.  And those who  have ears listen. I am glad  to know that you found my postings useful. It tells me that what I have done  here,  I did not  do in vain if it has benefitted even just one person. I have learnt through my own painful lessons that one way to play this game successfully and survive for the long haul is to stick to blue  chips and stay out of penny counters. But that' s me. Some of you may disagree with my stand on penny counters and may even take offence. Becoz your own foray into penny counters might have been a wonderful and profitable experience. Well, different strokes for different folks. I am not saying that penny counters are bad. What I am saying is penny counters are not for me. For you and others, pennies may work wonders. Good for you then. But not for me. My trading and investment strategy is workable only becoz of one thing and this one thing is found only in good blue chip counters. That' s why I stick to blue chips. What stocks do I play? Ascendas REIT CapitaComm Trust Suntec REIT CapitaMall Trust SingTel SGX Capitaland ST Engrg Wilmar Stocks which I used to play actively but have sidelined them meantime are: SIA Starhub ComfortDelgro Global Logistics Properties Hong Kong Land UOB DBS OCBC Charts are a starting point. They tell me what a stock has been doing in the past 1 year. They also tell me whether the stock is  on an uptrend,  downtrend or sideways. I look for patterns. And I try to find repetition in patterns. Why? Those patterns did not occur at random. Those patterns are not creatures of accidents or coincidence. Those patterns occurred and in some instances,  occurred  repeatdly  becoz of the action of monkeys.    Whatever methods and tactics monkeys use, they work. The monkeys  always win and they always make money. If it works, it  ain' t broken. Then why fix it? No need to fix. There is nothing to fix. And  no need to change either. Just  continue to use the same  methods and tactics. Coz they will work. For the monkeys. Which is  why we sometimes see repetition in chart patterns and repetition  in the price action. And from there, trading experience and  observation of the realtime price action tells us how we should position  ourselves to profit from what  the market is likely to do next. Having said that, I must stress  that we will still  not  always get it right. But until a better system comes along, I will stick to what works for me. For now. Given the strong buying momentum, selling by weak holders will be well absorbed without causing a splash in the water. It is time to ride the upwaves and have fun. Like I said yesterday, this train will not remain at the station for long. And it will become more difficult to board the train let alone find a seat.

So sellers won the tug-of-war. This game is simple - the side which is willing to put the most amount of money to work, wins. In the case of selling, as long as money is put to work and that money is greater than those of the buyer, the seller will win. But once the money stops, fundamentals will take over and becoz the fundamentals are solid, the stock will recover. The seller of a fundamentally sound and solid stock is like a person who pushes open a door which has a door closer fixed to it. The door which has a door closer mounted on it, is like the stock with solid fundamentals. To keep the door open, the seller must continue to stand there to hold the door open. So... when early into the turn, people are naturally still scared... still skeptical... and unsure  whether she has really turned or whether she can still drop back down to 3.65 and lower. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this stock. But when a fund manager wants to sell, that' s up to him. That' s entirely his prerogative. However, his negative view of this stock is just his view... his solo ... isolated view, not that of the market. When he stops selling, the bottom is reached. And it does appear like he has stopped selling. During the initial period immediately after the U-turn, take-up rate is usually slow...as always.  Becoz people are unsure. People are afraid still to buy. Afterall, today is only the 1st day that we did not see multiple sell-downs in big lots. Come tomorrow, the 2nd day...and if still no sign of selling in big lots, more bargain hunters will start to come out to queue or to grab or both. And things will start to heat up a little. And fund managers who are eyeing the 9.8 cts dividends will also start to hasten their accumulation. And we will start to see multiple buy-up trades in big lots. Now 3.69 : 3.70.

We are supposed to have Result cum Dividend Run now. She closed at 3.78 on 8 Nov. On the morn of 9 Nov before market opened, she announced results and 9.8 cts dividends. Between 9 Nov and today (both days inclusive), there were 10 trading days. Assuming SingTel had risen on average a modest 1 ct per day, she would have risen 10 cts in the last 10 trading days. That means 3.78 + 10 cts = 3.88 today. But she is at 3.69 : 3.70 now after fighting a fierce battle with an idiot stupid moron fund manager which saw her price plummet from 3.78 to 3.65.... a drop of 13 cts. That' s not all. Back in May to Aug 2017, we had another Results cum Dividend Run. Dividends declared was 10.7 cts. Back then, you guys will remember that there was another stupid idiot moron foreign fund manager who gave up on SingTel becoz of TPG' s foray into the Australian and Singapore telco market. That other stupid idiot moron FM felt that strong competition from TPG will make SingTel a " gone case" . So he divested his SingTel stocks. As a result, and ONLY BECOZ of this stupid guy' s selling, SingTel fell from 3.88 to 3.70, a fall of 18 cts. As is always the case, when one stupid idiot moron fund manager sells, the price will fall. But not freefall the same way as Noble or ComfortDelgro or KepCorp. Becoz fundamentally, there is nothing wrong with SingTel. The price weakness is not representative of the market' s view about this stock. It is merely the view and decision of one lousy fund manager as to whether SingTel should be kept, added or sold. And as such, when one fund sells, all the other funds will say THANK YOU FOR DOING US A FAVOUR to depress the price down. They will stand aside and let the moron fund sells. When the selling stops, the funds who want to buy will then come out to buy. That' s why we saw the stock price recovered from 3.70 to 4.00 on the eve of XD. That was during the previous Results cum Dividend Play from May to Aug 2017. The same thing will happen in this current round of Results cum Dividend Play. Once the selling stops, and it has, the price will recover to its heydays. Whether she will recover to 4.00 again or higher... that we will have to wait and see. But recover she will. At the very least, she will climb another 10 cts from current level. Meaning we will see 3.80. So what you guys wanna do about that 10 cts upside is dependent on each of you - bolas, bullets and brains. The 3 Bs. I say " brains" becoz it starts with the letter " B" and by brains, I mean trading experience, knowledge and observation about how the market works and how trading psychology works. These are know-how which we can harness to our full advantage to work for us. One more thing - so what is the moral of the above story? Whether it is pure coincidence and nothing else or not, I dunno. But once bitten, twice shy. The lesson we should all learn from this latest experience is - at the next Results cum Dividend Play, we should not be so quick to load up on her. We should slow down and hesitate a little and wait and see whether yet another stupid idiot moron fund manger decides that early no cum late no cum Phian Phian during Results cum Dividend Play then he comes out to announce to the market that he wants to divest all his stake in SingTel and starts whacking the price down.
