The major shareholders from Thailand owning 76 over percent in direct and indirect stakes is a true smart businessman. They IPO in 2007 during the super bull run at around $1.30 plus per share and price shot up to around $1.80 per share. They would have already made a good deal from there. Then oil plunged and the company survived but shares price was badly beaten down to current level. It is anybody guess whether oil prices will continue to rise or maintain at current level and should it happens that oil prices is at this current level or higher, then more contracts will be made available and this could bode well for the company. But by then, will the owner takes the company private before the company turns around and make good money with multiple baggers. | ||

It' s quite obvious that there' s new contracts coming with the purchase of Swiber' s vessel at cheap price, the recent approval of Bank Loans (Banks do due diligence before they approve any loans), and given their presence in the Middle East and links to PTTEP Thailand, contract awards will favor them. That said, it depends on the margin they win contracts, Mermaid is well known to be very competitive in price bid hence their margin is generally low. They burned all their cash raised from rights issues buying and selling AOD and the company is past its hay days given the number of vessels they have now (and hence number of projects they could bid.. so take on more debt/risk to buy more vessels?). But I must say that their current shareprice is not reflective of their current worth, may still have some upsides.
