As usual short term investors look at the brazil yard as their weakness. However in the long run, this brazil yard can go far. Provided the management, manpower and deals are constant. | ||||

Read from the recent issue of The Edge Singapore that things have not been smooth sailing for its yard in Brazil, which has been besieged by labour shortages and cost overruns for over a year. These impacted their overall profitability. It has been hard to find and retained skilled labour in Brazil. They also faced shortages in the supplier market, which resulted in significant delays in their delivery schedule and an overload of work at their yard, In Brazil, all foreign business must hire local employees and use domestic supply chains. As a result only one vessel was completed and delivered in Niteroi in 2013 -yielding zero margin. While 4 more delayed vessels remain under cobstruction. |

Singapore, 14 March 2014 ? Vard Holdings Limited (?VARD?), one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, is pleased to announce that it has secured new contracts for the design and construction of two Platform Supply Vessels (?PSV?) for Mermaid Marine Australia Limited (?MMA?). The vessels will be delivered from Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam in 4Q 2015 and 1Q 2016 respectively. The vessels are multifunctional PSVs of VARD 1 08 design with a total length of 81.7 meters, beam of 18 meters and a cargo deck area of 810 m 2 . The vessels of approximately 4000 dwt will be prepared for standby, rescue, firefighting and ROV operations. The vessels are designed with high focus on cargo capacity and excellent maneuvering capabilities combined with low fuel consumption. CEO and Executive Director Roy Reite commented, ?We are honoured to receive these contracts from Mermaid Marine, and proud to see a new client from the Asia Pacific region entrust this important project to our Vietnam shipyard. We look forward to working closely with Mermaid, and welcome their team to VARD.?

The gap down was from 1.08 to 0.97 in July 2013. Hopefully the good news may stir more buyers to push the price upward and close the gap. Good luck.
