The best news is still potential target for takeover. On its own, Rex had limited ability to take advantage of Oman and Norway. Their business model is to use Oman oil production and the profits from selling the oil to self fund further development of Oman 50. Norway is like sideline money for their Rex oil finding technology. So, if you are main shareholders and founding fathers of Rex, what is best deal? Of course, it is to sell to interested parties through one firm or other of takeover. I have mooted this idea of takeover a long time ago, as a way for all of us, whether new or older investors in Rex, to get out of this company. The only issue is the takeover price which will affect the take-up rate to a takeover offer. Low ball = low take up rate. IPO price was 50cents. And some people may have shares at above 65 cents, while some hold shares as low as 7.5cents.

It is not easy to change from fossil fuels to renewables.
It will take significant time and a crazy lot of money needs to be spend for the right infrastructure to be in place. Before that, likely that O&G majors and all other related business, both upstream and downstream, will want to make as much money as possible to recoup their capital before any switch. Renewables will not come about without fossil fuels becoming expensive otherwise, simple economics will tend to favour the cheaper energy source.
So no need for the Green debate here...yes...renewables will be the next phase...good for us and the world's environment, but....just not today or anytime soon.

Current trend, majority of investors are putting money into renewable fuels. Much less people willing to dump money into fossil fuels because it is a sunset industry. However, it may take 20-30 years for electric vehicles to really displace petrol ones. In the meantime, with less investment in fossil fuels, there is going to be a shortage, and price will increase. This interim years for transition from fossil to renewable is going to be very profitable for comapnies like Rex. Just my thoughts, I may be wrong. Brent now touching $74, I think $80 may not be too far away.i |

Even if low ball takeover, minority shareholders can unite to defeat it, if they want to. Rex has total shares of 1,302,321,000 with a free float of 53.6%. With such a large free float, it is not diificult to prevent the takeover, if there is a will.

From my experience, a long halt usually resuls in takeover. With the recent trend, hopefully if takeover, it is not low ball, but I am pessimistic. I invest in Rex for long terms substantial gains, not for small low ball profit. Keep fingers crossed that is is not takeover. Just my opinion, I may be totally wrong  .
