x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	2 words to explain what has been happening to technology stocks in US - profit taking. Nasdaq Composite Index has dominated Wall Street for most of 2017 culminating in the highs of November and one of the beneficiaries of that rise is UMS' s chief customer AMAT that has increased significantly in share price and bottom line performance. It is only logical now to indulge in some profit taking. From a long term perspective, this is a healthy development. Anything that goes up unabated in a straight line like a rocket will crash sooner or later.  So let' s take this correction in our stride by concentrating on the fundamentals and technicals rather than on market sentiments.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Yeah,... that' s what I intend to do,... observe closely first,.... but we have to be practical, no way is the price going to plunge to illogical lows if the stock is still good. Mkt will snap up quickly,...so, if we have a chance to buy at a low, must grab already,....

The data indicates that manufacturing - which makes up a fifth of the economy and has been its brightest spot this year - is likely to remain a key driver of growth going into 2018. The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) - an early indicator of manufacturing activity - came in at 52.9 last month. This was up from 52.6 in October and also the highest reading since December 2009. A reading of 50 and above indicates expansion.   The survey also showed PMI for the electronics sector came in at 53.5 last month - up slightly from 53.3 in October. This was the 16th straight month of growth in the electronics segment.   DBS senior economist Irvin Seah said that the numbers show manufacturing is still in the driver' s seat in terms of supporting overall growth, " though there have been signs pointing to moderation ahead" . " The PMI is not seasonally adjusted which means things typically ease off towards the end of the year. However, the numbers are still up, which means the sector will likely close the year with a big bang," he noted. " This will show up in overall economic growth numbers and should result in more positive spillover for the rest of the economy."

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Looks like nothing fundamentally wrong with manufacturing (1/5 of Spore GDP) in general and electronics in particular. Nov PMI for electronics was 53.5 up slightly from Oct' s 53.3. Slow and steady better right?  16th consecutive month of growth. LONG LIVE ELECTRONICS!
