Bharti Airtel posted 158% year-on-year growth in its consolidated net profit to Rs 4,160 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024.  The profit beat the Street estimates by a wide margin.    Singtel' s Philippine JV valuation doubles to US$5 billion on Ayala and MUFG investments Singtel announces that it is the first fixed broadband service provider in the world to successfully implement the international Broadband Forum TR-369 standard for Wi-Fi management.      Singtel partners with Bridge Alliance to launch regional telco API exchange.  It will help to create an open telco API economy, which is key for new business opportunities. SingTel associate Intouch Holdings has entered into an amalgamation agreement with Thailand' s Gulf Energy Development, which will result in the formation of a new public entity NewCo.    Singtel will also book an estimated gain of S$400 million from the amalgamation. Singtel' s Thai associate Advanced Info Service (AIS) is not obligated to pay the 16.3 billion baht (S$602.1 million) claimed by Thailand' s National Telecom (NT). This came after the country' s Supreme Administrative Court dismissed NT' s appeal on the dispute, which dates back to 2018.    With the appeal dismissed, the dispute is now concluded,  says telco' s Thai associate. SK Telecom, Singtel partner to develop next-gen 6G & AI Infrastructure  that will drive innovation, improve network performance and security and deliver enhanced customer experiences over the next two years. Singtel and Hitachi Digital      announce a new collaboration that will pair Hitachi' s deep AI expertise with Singtel' s Paragon platform, the all-in-one orchestration platform for 5G, edge computing and cloud. Singtel is currently using AI to support marketing communications to develop new campaigns and carry out faster testing. Singtel plans another stake sale round in Airtel via block deals, according to sources. Singtel has been selling down its stake Airtel. So far, it has raised more than S$3 billion through two sales, one in 2022 and in March this year, Singtel has unlocked another S$0.95 billion with the sale of a 0.8% direct stake in Airtel to US-based investment firm GQG Partners. The resultant gain from the sale is estimated to be S$0.7 billion. This transaction is the latest in the Singtel Group' s capital recycling efforts to unlock value from its assets, bringing the total capital recycled to S$8 billion since its strategic reset in 2021.      There will be further value unlocking initiatives.  As of date, Singtel has now identified a further S$6 billion of assets that could be monetised Singtel and NTUC have signed a five-year deal to provide enhanced connectivity  to NTUC' s1.3 million members, especially youths and professionals, managers and executives (PMEs). Telekom Malaysia has announced a strategic joint venture with Nxera, the regional data center arm of Singtel' s Digital InfraCo unit, to develop state-of-the-art data centers in Malaysia. A consortium of KKR and Singtel ink an  agreement to  initially acquire S$1.75 billion worth of redeemable preference shares and warrants in ST Telemedia Global Data Centres  to support its international expansion and growth plans. They will subsequently invest a further S$1.24 billion into the firm, once they have exercised the warrants in full. Singtel partners Lendlease for $3 billion redevelopment of Comcentre HQ  into an office redevelopment. It is estimated to carry a gross development value of $3 billion upon completion and will be a net-zero energy development built in line with carbon neutral construction principles. Singtel sells US digital marketing unit mAmobe   to Britain' s Tremor International for an enterprise valuation of US$239 million (S$331 million), above the US digital media and advertising subsidiary' s carrying value of US$160 million. Singtel sells its Trustwave cybersecurity business    to MC 2 Titanium for US$205 million as part of a business reshaping that has been ongoing for a couple of years.              Global investment firm KKR spends over S$1.1 billion to acquire a 20 per cent stake in Singtel' s regional data centre business. KKR will have the option to increase its stake to 25 per cent by 2027 at the pre-agreed valuation.    The Singapore-based telco' s overall data centre business is said to be valued at S$5.5 billion.                      Bharti Airtel, India' s second-biggest phone carrier, says  it would raise prices of its mobile plans.        The Singtel Group has deepened its commitment to environmental stewardship by making more aggressive cuts to its greenhouse gas emissions through a set of more ambitious science-based targets aligned with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5° C.  Singtel is the first telecoms company in Asia to have these targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Singtel announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Optus Mobile Pty Limited (Optus) has signed an agreement with TPG Telecom Limited (TPG Telecom) to create a regional Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN), offering significant financial growth with service fees totaling around A$1.6 billion over an 11-year contract.              Singtel is among key telco players in SEA that can expand revenue streams through data centres. Data centres have been experiencing a surge in demand with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprises moving to digitalisation, says Bloomberg Intelligence. Singtel announces it will be launching its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS)  in Singapore and Southeast Asia in the third quarter of this year, providing enterprises with access to NVIDIA' s AI computing power to drive greater efficiencies to accelerate growth and innovation. Singtel announces that it had entered into a strategic partnership with Telkom Indonesia  and Indonesian energy company Medco Power for its first data center project in the country. Singtel in partnership with Gulf Energy (GULF) and Advanced Info Service (AIS) begin construction of a new data centre (DC) in Thailand.        Bharti Airtel adds $30 billion to its market cap to become the biggest wealth creator.  Since the beginning of 2024, the telecom major has added more than $30 billion to its market capitalisation. The addition in market valuation is the highest among listed companies in India and is derived from the success of its mobile business. Optus Enterprise, the enterprise segment of Singtel' s Australia arm Optus, won a contract worth A$578 million from Services Australia for its customer contact management services. Contract duration is for six years KakaoBank and Superbank Enter Strategic Partnership to Drive Digital Banking Innovation in Indonesia.  Superbank is a new transitioning digital-focused bank in Indonesia backed by a consortium comprising Grab, Singtel, and Emtek Group.      Singtel is one of the largest data centre operators in Singapore by capacity, and is extending its lead by developing three next-generation, AI-ready data centres in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, through its Nxera data centre brand.  This will increase its data centre capacity from 62 megawatt (MW) in Singapore to over 200MW across the region in the next three years. GXBank is the first of five digital bank licence applicants to receive approval to commence operations from the Minister of Finance and Bank Negara Malaysia Indonesia' s Telkom and Telkomsel have signed an agreement to integrate Telkom' s IndiHome consumer business into Telkom and Singtel-owned service provider Telkomsel. Singtel has signed a MOU with Indonesian carrier services provider Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) to develop a submarine cable system connecting Singapore and Batam. Singtel has been ranked Asia' s most sustainable telecom provider on the 2024 Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World index, in recognition of its investments in sustainable infrastructure such as green data centres and new carbon neutral headquarters, as well as efforts to foster inclusivity and diversity.        Singtel and Qualcomm signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to bolster collaboration in the field of advancing 5G innovations and capabilities.        ​ Singtel has allied with HKT, AIS, Globe, Optus, Taiwan Mobile, and Telkomsel to launch a first-of-its-kind cross-border rewards programme.      Singtel can get earnings boost from Optus price hike.  Optus has quietly raised prices of its cheapest and most popular monthly mobile phone plans for new customers by 5-6 per cent. Singtel is exploring all options to dispose a significant stake in its Australian business Optus,but rules out full sale. Singtel has added Starlink' s low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband service to its connectivity suite for maritime customers.        Singtel announces on that it would embark on Singtel28, a growth plan that would recycle capital towards the company' s growth areas and raise dividends. Singtel has  said it will pay a " value realisation" dividend of three to six Singapore cents per share every year, in addition to a core dividend of between 70 and 90 per cent of its underlying net profit.
