TDR representing 37.61% is quite substantial. BBs really powderful to pump and pump there, and dump and dump here.
Imagine with 32c eps, at current local price of 95c, PE is just < 3.0. What a toad that is croaking in sgx.
Even at TDR' s current price of 1.20c, PE is only 3.75. Where to get it so good, no wonder the BBs in TW is pumping 10% by the days. Will not be surprised another up 10% 2molo for TW, but will be surprised if another 1% croak in sgx.

The Group&rsquo s Taiwan Depository Receipts (&ldquo TDRs&rdquo ) were listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on 13 December 2002.
The number of TDRs issued at that time was 22,000,000. In May 2004, an additional 4,382,875 TDRs were issued because of a stock split.
In October 2009, an additional tranche of 100,000,000 TDRs was issued and traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
As at 19 March 2021, the total number of TDR issued by the Company is 205,531,500, representing for 37.61% of the total number of shares in the capital of the Company.

The whole FY2020 Financial Report only included the above paragraph and nothing more.

Bro, TW price up because there were 6 community cases there yesterday. Just a blip lah.
Medtecs is the household name in TW, of course it will cheong there when there are cases there.
There is no dispute that Medtecs is doing very well in TW. U hv to take the TW ADR price as a separate entity, no relevance to listed Medtecs in SG.

If u think SG price will cheong, load it up man. No regrets ok

I already sold ALL Medtecs at HEAVY losses BUT as always happy it is up. 95.5 high today + 5.5 dividend is 1.01 SGD sigh i sold 96.5! Annyway Taiwan is UP because of this News.

My question or concern more is the PPE news shared by many others. Taiwan n SG demand too small to shift MTs and unlike Gloves, MT products no elasticity. Anyway hope it goes 2 SGD for the rest of the longist bros. No more PPE for me or SGX stocks for me. Hard Rule for Now.

Today Medtecs XD yet price still holding quite well imo.
The Q1 results were disappointing but the price has more or less been discounted before it came out.
Now the Taiwanese are bullish as many buyers are out to push up TDR prices. Are there news imminent?

Have trimmed down my Medtecs holdings and reshuffled my overall porfolio (now heavy on gloves).
Still bullish over medical and gloves counters as the pandemic is still raging and PPE will still be needed for a long while.
The medical counters should be back in play with many countries reporting more cases and lockdowns imo.

Was glad that Medtecs did not set up manufacturing plant in US and instead open a office in the US and do joint venture instead. If not, revenue and profit will be greatly affected.

Just saw an article regarding US mask manufacturers facing close down accusing China of dumping low price mask into US. requesting help from the president joe biden.
These could explain why medtec drop in revenue from last quarter. I assume the ASP have drop significantly.

TW MT got q of 52mil sh to buy at TWD25.35 (SGD1.20), but got no sellers. Wow, what enormous q volume.
Sgx MT done latest at SGD0.95, or 25c lower than that in TW, currently only got 143 lots in q.
What a toad, that jump 10% up in TW and fall 2% down in sgx.

WASHINGTON: The small US manufacturers that rushed to produce face masks over the past year are now stuck with hundreds of millions of unsold face coverings because China is flooding the market with below-cost masks, and most may not survive the end of the pandemic.

That' s the thrust of a letter to President Joe Biden released on Tuesday (May 11) by a trade group representing 26 small manufacturers that set up production of the badly needed safety items as the health crisis took hold last year.

The manufacturers said over half their production would be forced offline in 60 days if they don' t get immediate federal aid, costing thousands of jobs. They blame low-priced imports, especially from China.

" We write to you with a request for immediate help against unfair trade practices by foreign nations that threaten the viability of the US domestic PPE mask manufacturing industry, as well as future US pandemic preparedness efforts," the newly formed group, the American Mask Manufacturer' s Association, said in the letter.

The group said they have capacity to produce 3.7 billion surgical masks and more than 1 billion of the higher-protection N95 masks a year - and are now sitting on stockpiles of 260 million surgical masks in their warehouses that they are struggling to sell. Another 20 million N95s are also on factory shelves.

When masks were in short supply last year, prices surged. But prices have now crashed, and hospital administrators and others are shopping for the best prices in a market crowded with new offerings.

A box of 50 surgical masks which sold for more than US$50 a year ago can be found for US$5 now.

The trade group said while there are 3 to 6 cents in raw material in every surgical mask, imported Chinese surgical masks now sell for an average of 1 cent each. " China ... is effectively dumping masks on the US market at well below actual costs."

" If this remains unchanged, 54 per cent of our production will go offline in 60 days and 84.6 per cent in less than a year," the group said in the letter. The group said they' d created more than 7,800 US jobs in the last year, but roughly a third of those have already been lost to production cuts.v

The Biden administration has pledged to look at ways to support domestic producers of protective equipment - including potentially finding ways to subsidise US producers - but the government reviews are still underway.

" The idea that everyone expressed during the crisis - that we need to avoid (PPE shortages) ever happening again - hasn' t changed profit-driven institutions," said James Wyner, chief executive of Shawmut Corp., a West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, maker of engineered materials that expanded into mask production during the crisis. " The distributors are still sourcing their stuff at the lowest price."

Wyner said he' s selling masks from his new production lines, but " substantially less than we would like."

Adam Albrecht, senior quality control manager at Indiana Face Mask, another small producer, said when the firm first started producing the higher-filtration N95 masks last year, " People came out of the woodwork, saying: ' We can sell this, we can sell this.' But it seems no matter how much we adjust prices down, the Chinese stay just below."

Some of the small mask makers are confident they will survive.

Dan Izhaky, who together with a partner has invested US$4 million in a new mask factory outside Los Angeles, said the challenge is greater for makers of surgical masks, the ubiquitous safety masks that are relatively easy to make.

Izhaky' s company makes more complex N95 masks and he said he has continued to expand. " But we also believe the Biden administration is going to take a number of steps down the road to really help us be sustainable," he said.

The mask trade group - which doesn' t include industry giants such as 3M and Honeywell International - urged the Biden administration to take immediate action to support the industry.

Their recommendations include requiring the federal government and any other institution receiving federal dollars for buying protective equipment to buy only US-made masks that comply with government rules on domestic content and remove any masks in the federal stockpile that don&rsquo t meet federal standards.

They also want the administration to require any hospital that accepts federal funds to earmark 40 per cent of its spending on PPE for domestic producers by 2023.

They are also asking the government to consider buying the 260 million masks now stockpiled at the new factories.

Taiwan Medtecs up likely due to the quarantine of China Airlines pilots and the few community cases picked up.
Plus yesterday announcement of covid tightening measures over there. Taiwan main index tumbled today.

I recalled that at one point in the past, Taiwan TDR was trading at more than double SG price. After that, Taiwan TDR plunge and price actually went below Sg price. So, now I am a bit skeptical about benchmarking Sg share price to Taiwan TDR price. So, please take care. Cheers!!!
