It is not good for retail investors, who have limited cash to subscribe to the right issue. During crisis fund managers may not have sufficient cash so they just choose to sell the right instead.  SIA may not be the last counter that issue Right during this crisis season. During the lockdown, companies will drain their cash to survive while their income stream is stopped. The gov can only help them until a certain limit. Beyond that, they have to find cash support from either bank, or rich people, or share investors. Banks could be very cautious too and may not be good friends in time of trouble.  Just use SIA as the case study and be vigilant for any sign of imminent Right Issue for other blue chips.
