Good news but price down... Brazil corruption still in the spotlight LOI to build world' s largest crane vessel Sembcorp Marine (SMM) has entered into an exclusive letter of intent (LOI) with Heerema Offshore Services B.V. for the engineering and construction of a new semisubmersible crane vessel (NSCV). NSCV will be the largest crane vessel in the world. The NSCV is designed to install and remove offshore facilities worldwide. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavylifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area. It will be selfpropelled with a transit speed of 10 knots. Station-keeping is by means of dynamic positioning (DP3) or mooring system. When completed, NSCV will be the largest crane vessel in the world with a vessel length of 214m and a width of 97.5m. Vote of confidence from reputable customer. Heerema Offshore Services B.V. is a subsidiary of Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland Holding SE (HMC), which has over 50 years of experience in O& G industry as a leader in transportation, installation and removal of all types of offshore facilities, in shallow, deep and ultra-deep waters. HMC currently owns four of the world&rsquo s largest crane vessels, namely SSCV Thialf, Hermod, DCV Balder and Aegir, the latest addition to its fleet. Significant win for SMM. While the newbuild price has not been disclosed, based on industry sources, the vessel could cost over US$1bn in total. As some of the equipment may be owner furnished, we are not able to ascertain the portion attributable to SMM. Nonetheless, it will be a sizeable contract when finalised. In addition, this potential win is also a testimonial to SMM&rsquo s execution and track record. Other yards said to have been in the running were the Korean trio - Samsung Heavy Industries, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Chinese players - CMHI Yiulian, Cosco Shipyard and CIMC Raffles, and Singapore' s Keppel Offshore & Marine. Order flow has been slow and SMM has yet secured any firm contract YTD. We have assumed S$3bn order wins for 2015 in our model. Maintain HOLD and TP of S$2.89. |

depends more on oil price recovery. if oil price recovers, they can always continue to build the rigs then sell or lease it out later. surely a build new rig is more attractive to rig lease co when price of oil is up above $80 again. |
