A-2 bonds and riskier class are only available to  accredited investors. Not a high requirement by singapore standards. i) Individuals with a personal net asset in excess of $2 million ii) Individuals with an income of not less than $300,000 in the past 12 months III) property can only account up to $1m.

Yes, you are right. Only the Class A-1 bond fund will be available for subscription via internet or ATM, NOT the other classes. And,... only the Class A-1 will be floated on the exchange, and visible on the SGX Trading Platform.

i applied for some - there are screens which prompted us to fill in checkboxes and not just apply blindly. so for the water case, it is a bit difficult to understand when some investors say they dun know can lose money. anyway, for those interested to apply, just a frenly reminder deadline is tmr NOON and it is not risk free.    Good luck to all who applied - hope everyone get some !    ![]()   |

Hello, I thought to apply through ATM or Internet Banking for the public is only the class A-1 Bonds? As stated:- 6) Which class of bonds is being offered to the public in Singapore? Why can&rsquo t I buy Class A-2 Bonds or Class B bonds? Only the Class A-1 Bonds are being offered to the retail public in Singapore. The Class A-2 and Class B Bonds are US$ denominated bonds offered to certain institutional or accredited investors in Singapore and elsewhere outside the United States, but they are not offered to the retail public in Singapore.  Any comments? It my first time looking at a bond issues with three different classes. Cheers   |

Yeah, they just have different probability. For e.g temasek bond are all Aaa rated. Astrea V is not an Aaa bond, but it is still an A+. Below shows the 31 yr average default rate for different ratings. Do note that bonds can be downgrade due to market factors.

Whats worse, if you google LMIRT, there are tons of bad news for the company. https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/lmirt-q1-dpu-falls-18-as-rental-income-drops-on-lease-expiry

It is principal guaranteed? Is the trustee a strong backer? The LMIRT' s credit ratings is rated as junk as well.  I cannot help to notice the fact that they are issuing the units  at a discounted price that is 98.973 per cent of the principal amount. If it' s popular there would be no need for discount. Again, risk-reward choice.

Hyflux perpetual bonds are unrated. If they tried, they would probably get a super low tier junk bond ratings.   Where else Astrea V Class A-1 Bonds are expected to be rated Asf by Fitch and A+ (sf) by S& P. Bonds with such ratings usually offer yields there are slightly lower with because the current market rates are reversing. But in short, there are certain risk investing in it. You have to dyodd to weigh the risk -rewards.

I read one important detail : the LMIRT Capital USD Bonds are GUARANTEED by the Trustee, Perpetual (Asia) Ltd. Hence, will defaults by the Issuer here by ' covered' by Perpetual (Asia) ?

Before hyflux perpetual bond, i bet nobody will ever thought that it will default. Tht' s y many retirees put their entire savings in. Astrea bond is used to fund many private funds and getting cashflow from them. If a few of them in trouble or close shop, the bond will have problem refunding yr mony and interests.   |

despite the risks highlighted in the prospectus, i hv a feeling that this will be overscribed by a lot ... look at the demand for the recent unsecured SIA 3.03%. i guess on the bright side(risk wise), nobody is going to be allocated hundreds of thousands unlike the case with some heavily vested hyflux investors. perhaps those who have already exhausted their ssb quota may be more interested...

I' ve read no small number of posts in the Hyflux thread where uncles n aunties are labelled ' greedy' for having bought Hyflux' s perpetuals.  Well, let' s just remind ourselves that we are all humans who wld naturally seek to park our funds in investments which we perceive offer the best returns n (hopefully) where our principles are in the safest hands.  Truth though is one can never say never ......
