x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Keppel' s Kruger Cable System receives FBO licence prospective investors to decide by end 2026 Keppel Kruger Holdings, a unit of Keppel, has been given a so-called facilities-based operator licence by telco regulator the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore. With this licence, this entity now has the right to own, operate and maintain telecommunications infrastructure in Singapore and to provide telecommunications services in the name of the Kruger Cable System (Kruger). The Kruger cable system is currently under evaluation with prospective investors, with an investment decision expected by the end of 2026. The Kruger cable system is seen to connect Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India and Oman (Salalah), with branches across South Asia. It will land at Tuas, using the same beach manhole as Keppel' s existing Bifrost Cable System. Keppel says Kruger is being developed against a backdrop of sustained growth in international bandwidth demand seen to grow more than five-fold between 2025 and 2035 due to, unsurprisingly, cloud, AI and content providers. Keppel says that securing the FBO licence is a critical milestone in the development of Kruger. Singapore landing rights are among the earliest enablers for any new subsea cable and having them in hand allows Keppel to progress the cable system towards a final investment decision. Manjot Singh Mann, CEO of Keppel&rsquo s Connectivity Division, says that Kruger will extend Keppel&rsquo s reach west from Singapore to the Middle East, with branches serving South Asia, which is one of the fastest-growing connectivity corridors in the world. " Securing the FBO licence demonstrates that our subsea ambitions are moving from intent to execution. " Following the full commercialisation of Bifrost earlier this year, Kruger furthers Keppel&rsquo s subsea networks strategy, at a time when AI is driving unprecedented demand for highcapacity, resilient international connectivity," he adds. Keppel shares closed at $11.08, up 0.45%, extending a gain of 7.78% year to date.

The company said the development is not expected to have any material impact on its net tangible assets per share or earnings per share for the current financial year.
