If you want to insists, then i' ll say 85% to 90% of the handler infrastructure remain the same (can be reused). the balance 10% to 15% need to change to cater for the different chip. Whether the chip in BGA/PGA/PAD package. BGA package is typically for laptop chip, PGA package is typically for desktop and LGA package is typically for server. Some hint, go goole Jedec standard. Not all equipment is suitable for all chips. When a specific chips becomes obsolete, the machine will have very limited use. That' s why AEM took so long to discuss and design  the machine for Intel. Apple only annonuce that their Ipad (and i think computers) will stop using intel chips. When they gain enough capabilities and technical know how, they will do their Iphone chips in-house too, it' s just normal vertical integration of business.
