U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures settled 86 cents, or 1.6 percent, at $53.86. Global benchmark Brent crude was up $1, or 1.8 percent, at $56.63 a barrel, touching a session high of $56.39 shortly after the IEA report' s publication. Brent was on track for its first weekly drop in four weeks while U.S. crude eked out its fourth straight week of gains. |

STI was at 2500+ in Feb 2016 and has moved up almost 600 points despite the bearishness last year, to close at 3100 last week. If the economy is indeed on the road to recovery then who knows, we may see another 600 or more points move from now till early next year?

If the upcoming Spore Budget follows through with aggressive spending plans on the CFE recommendations, it will be a big positive for our STI markets. Property stocks and REITs are running up in advance of brighter economic prospects I suspect. I'm not letting go at these levels - and in course for STI 3200pts by year end. If the global economy recovers by next year - onwards towards 3450pts and beyond. Best wishes to all who dared to stock up last year during the market lows. | ||||

Already pulled way back from all time highs of 3800+ pts - time for resurgence to match other global markets. Just that those who sit on the sidelines must have wished they got in earlier at the 2500+ mark last year.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced a $13.8 billion order to buy 39 Boeing wide-body aircraft. It pursues expansion, a setback for U.S. planemaker' s rival Airbus Group in the fight for long-term orders. Airbus Grp has flagged its intention to build a bigger version of its A350, although plans have been placed on hold amid uncertainty over demand for wide-body jets. In a statement on Thursday, SIA said it agreed to place firm orders with Boeing for 20 777-9s and 19 787-10s to tap additional growth and for fleet modernisation through the next decade. " Today' s major order for widebody aircraft enables us to continue operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, providing the SIA Group with additional expansion opportunities to ensure that we retain our industry-leading position," said CEO Goh Choon Phong. Airlines typically get discounts on list prices when placing large orders. SIA said this would be the airline' s first order for the newest 777 variant that is currently under development, the 777-9. SIA is already the launch customer for the 787-10, which is also currently in development, having placed an initial order in 2013 for 30 aircraft for delivery from the 2018/19 financial year. |

Looks like STI 3200pts by year end may be quite attainable now. There seem to be a few potential positives coming up like the Sing Budget, recovering global economies and oil price recoveries that may help along the way. Time to get off the fences folks, LOL. | ||||
