for telco 5g is a saving. their mobile min offer will diminised over time as more like apps giving free voice over data. telco may not loose all of mobile voice min, but it will reduced. hopefully video, voice mail will used up more data to compensate for the lost. i view it as authority not working as apps does not have telecommunication license in singapore but offer voice over data. |

Statistics can be subjective as well, Starhub' s dividend yield of 5.83 may look nice by itself, but as its share price declines its yield percentage will increase statstically but that gives its shareholders no value, and only raises questions on the sustainability of its dividend (a key reason why people invested in Starhub all these years). In and of itself a dividend tells us nothing about the future sustainability of its business. A lower PE does not mean or equate to a better buy, again its subjective. A lower PE can also be interpreted as the market not have confidence in its long term growth. I do not think a buy is slapped on the basis of price and ratios alone, after all if you two piece of identical fruits with one priced half of the other it should raise suspicions of whether you are buying a rotten fruit. The higher PE for Singtel is reflective of the market expectation that Singtel has a larger addressable subscriber market beyond 5.7M people on this island. For starhub, this is it..5.7M is the max number of people they can sell multiple phone lines, TV subscriptions and broadband to. They do not have a MOAT outside Singapore, and that is why between the two Singtel is a safer bet. I think when you have gone thru 4 CEOs in 11 years, its a sign of stability issues and speaks to the long term lack of direction for the company. On the merits of comparison I am of the opinion Singtel is a better buy that starhub, everyone should DYODD and make up their own minds, but I an convinced anyone buying here is going to see their money stuck in the long term, you are better off buying Keppel Corpse, Keppel DC, SIA, Singtel instead of this " One Trick Pony Show" called starhub. I am neither short StarHub nor an Investor, I was a former investor thought but thankfully sold off when the selling was still good. Anyone needing more proof of the decline can read the analysis below from BT, Pay TV or Linear TV is dying in Singapore, it will affect both Singtel and Starhub, but Singtel has other markets to explore, what does StarHub have...lemme guess 5G? fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me.... https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/singtel-starhub-pay-tv-subscriptions-to-shrink-further-fitch-solutions

Your " clear statements" are subjective.
- Having AIS, Bharti, Optus.. does not mean better profitability/dividends per share.
- Having one Singtel CEO in her position for 24 years does not mean she has had performed better than Starhub CEOs.
It is better to evaluate companies performance objectively using their latest earnings per share or PE ratio.
Singtel' s and StarHub' s P/E ratio are 33.18 and 12.80 respectively as of today. Just from this, Starhub stock is about 2.6 times cheaper to buy than Singtel.

StarHub will not see $4 let alone $4.75 in the next 10 years. The landscape and ecosystem has changed and this change is permanent. Telco Consumer and Enterprise is hugely commoditized and this is not a trend that can be reversed. I do pity anyone who is still sitting on this stock, its a value trap. I would rather buy SIA, there at least in 2-3 years you will see a 25% bump in the the share price conservatively or even Keppel Corpse...but StarHub is a VALUE TRAP!!!
