PUTRAJAYA: PKR?s political bureau will hold a meeting soon to decide on its candidate for Rantau state by-election. PKR Advisory Council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the bureau will also explore whether its GE14 candidate Dr S. Streram should be nominated again as Pakatan Harapan?s (PH) candidate in the poll. "We have not decided on a candidate for Rantau by-election. The political bureau. "Dr Streram was our candidate in the last election, and it's true that he was (unfairly treated) as he was not allowed into the nomination centre and filed law suit. "We will (consider) how to go (forward on who) to field for the by-election," she added. Dr Wan Azizah was speaking to reporters after the 2018 Women, Family and Community Development. It was previously reported that PH in Rembau ? which is part of the Rantau state constituency ? had urged the pact's leaders to reconsider fielding Dr Streram as a candidate. They claimed that the anaesthesiologist is not suitable for the Negri Sembilan state constituency, as he is not a local. Instead, Rembau PH expressed support for PKR Rembau branch committee member, Saparin Musa, to be nominated as candidate. On Feb 18, the Federal Court dismissed former three-term assemblyman's Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan's appeal against the Election Court's decision in declaring the 14th general election results for the Rantau state seat as null and void. |

Selangor. Semenyih state seat by-election is expected to be a 4-corner fight n it will focus once again on Pakatan Harapan (PH) verses Opposition Barisan Nasional (BN).
4-partues expressed their intention to contest n are local M'sian Society of Community Policing (CP) president Kuan Chee Heng, better known as ?Uncle Kentang", Parti Socialis M'sia (PSM) will announce their, PPBM (PH) will field their candidate n BN from Umno. Umno?s ally Islamist PAS will stay out of the race in support of BN. Kuan a Maverick without any party, often been brushed aside. His voice will not be heard in state assembly. PSM is considered as an opportunist who mainstream political arena are as always not here nor there. The party may even lose its deposit. Battle will essentially be between PPBM and Umno. Their target is the 69.2% or 36,857 Malay voters comprising main voters? minds thinking can no longer be likened as the way it was during May 9 GE2018. Besides unfulfilled pledges from PH manifesto. PH leaders are now profusely finding excuses, that the perception, DAP is dominant in the ruling coalition weighs heavily among Malay voters. Quote PPBM president. Muhyiddin Yassin, ?allaying fears of Malays are now seen being sidelined?. While BN?s allies MCA and MIC may not play an important role in wooing the Chinese and Indian voters, general public have already assumed would back DAP, PAS is considered as the ?Tonto to Umno? that can tilt the winning odds. Semenyih, a sub-urban seat just a 40-minutes? drive from capital city of KL, is considered backwards, seems forgotten, despite its short distance from the fast-moving and the mad economic race of the cosmopolitan city of Kuala Lumpur. Semenyih seen as haphazard seemingly lack of proper planning development n traffic congestion is a norm in the constituents as they go about their daily routine without ?screaming for sympathy?. It a uphill battle for Malay vote in Semenyih. Seat was held by PKR in 2013 GE and retained by Parti Pribumi Bersatu M'sia (PPBM) in 14th GE. A malay majority seat, 69.2% (total 54,503 voters.) Situation has changed now, winning is no longer with PPBM or with ruling PH govt ? may it be in the state or @national level. |
