Putin could have carpet bombed Ukraine into submission. All be gone in a few days...but is this his objective? is this even humane? You got to ask what is in his mind and not just read rubbish from MSM. I believe his goal is to take neo nazis out, create a dmz buffer without much civilian casualties. All these cannot be done in a few days. He also cannot use all his firepower and latest tech just in case this gets expanded into a regional conventional war. I guess you have much to learn. At the moment, Kyiv is surrounded and Zelensky if he is still there...would either be captured or killed. Best he asks for peace...but even then will Ukranians forgive him?

Ukraine is slowly being swallowed by Russia.  Who is next?          Putin has his mind fixed on invading Ukraine many years back, it is not something that is new.        The whole area is at risk now, the most vulnerable would be northern area Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania - those countries will also be at great risk.  Poland may be too much for Putin at this time, he needs to digest Ukraine first, then go for the smaller ones after Biden goes and he will hope Trump will return.      NATO is dependent on US mainly for military superiority, other countries may not be able to match Russia' s military hardware.    | ||||

Iraq was threatening states in the Gulf, including Kuwait.    If it was allowed to carry on, the world could face oil supply squeeze, a dictator can emerge to rule in the Middle East.      Russian propaganda is always out there to deceive people.    There was no reason to invade Ukraine.    So they came up with liberation of Donbas.    Check who started the civil war, and more importantly what period was it started?      2014 after Russia invaded Crimea.      Donbass civil war was created by the Russians.    Now they talk about Nazis in Ukraine.    Putin sounds more and more like Trump.        He can fool a few, but look at the speeches in the UN General Assembly- the world is not fooled.

Putin invaded Ukraine to take a strategic spot against the West, control of the black sea and ability to launch further attacks into the Baltic countries and surrounding areas.      Russian' s excuse to liberate Donbas was ignored and lambasted in the UN General Assembly held on 28 Feb 22 - people are still led into believing the Russian story of defending " Russians" in Donbass.    Isn' t this the same excuse he used when he invaded Crimea?            People have short memories.      It was only 2014 this happened.  The criticism against Putin has gone up since then, and people like Biden suddenly woke from his sleep to support Ukraine.        Listen to the passionate speeches made by countries in the UN Assembly, none of them believed Russia.          So while the dice is rolled, it is time to assess what Putin has gained or lost.        He wanted power and control, he couldn' t invade Ukraine completely, he displayed Russia' s weakness in conventional warfare.      He created an event which rallied many countries that were at odds with each other, to be banded together to prevent further invasions - NATO countries are beefing up - Poland now has gotten two Patriot anti missile systems, NATO countries are conducting exercises (https://www.channelnewsasia.com/world/nato-trains-help-its-own-ukraine-war-rumbles-2559666), and non-NATO countries, Sweden/Finland are likely to join NATO.  This is exactly the opposite of what Putin desired.     Putin went to war to avoid a situation of confrontation with NATO, but its increasingly likely that NATO may increase in numbers as well as strength as a result.       Putin and his generals may have war crime labels pinned on them very soon by the ICC.    Sanctions, tailored to bring Putin down - he expected there would be so, but probably did not expect US to also sanction oil and gas imports from Russia.        Demonstrations in Russia - he probably did not expect it (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/10/anti-war-protests-intensify-in-russia-along-with-police-crackdown) and it is the area with the highest risk - as he may be led out to the firing squad for war crimes by his own people - the generals who support him may turn against him.   This would be worse than Boris Yeltsin' s sudden resignation, now there are war crimes to be paid by Putin.         Okay, so what has he gained, or likely to gain.    Probably take control of the southern part of Ukraine, Donbas area plus the control of the Black Sea - significant gain because with this he can launch further attacks and threaten the West (but with the other NATO members encircling on the Western land locked areas - the risks have gone up for a combined NATO land attack on several fronts).          May likely takeover many parts of Ukraine but cannot swallow everything - war will continue to drain Russian resources.        So this Putin ends up losing more than he had anticipated.  Bad plan.            Because of this dictator we all suffer.      Another psycho to match Kim.

CNN interview - Ukrainians destroy Russian tanks moving into urban area (nutcase tank commander!) killing regimental commander.            40 mile tank convoy stopped for days - 2 views speak out loud - incompetence of Russian invasion forces inability of Ukranian defence to destroy the convoy which seems to be a sitting duck out in the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1g4FQMaKRg |

The Chinese are more stable than Putin, they call themselves communists, both do.        But Chinese bourgeoisie are flourishing, and they are the reason for the country' s prosperity - there is little Marxism left in the cup, they are speeches and false declarations year after year of imagined dreams made by a bunch of autocratic proletarians (who are actually " two legs" , not " four" to borrow from George Orwell' s Animal Farm).          Look at pathetic Putin, running the country backwards into Stalinist culture - banning free speech - putting more restrictions by jailing anyone criticizing the Ukraine war, pulling the wool over Russians' eyes by cutting off social media and blasting state propaganda.      Russia is going further away in opposite direction to China' s road to prosperity.        Russia is going into the poverty district - so much for Marxism, how much quality of life has it bought for the common Russian?          The soldiers are not even paid enough, whereas the rich own yachts and property all over Europe - Russia is a fake communist country in a bad way and it is sliding into making their people eat tree bark like the North Koreans.              By the way, China is definitely practicising fake communism.      Reason is because communism has never and will never work to create a better life for the common people.                  Very likely Putin will be carried off to the firing squad or disappear, and he will only find out the truth on his way out.    I doubt China will make a move on Taiwan, they may carry Xi out if he executes such an order.

I' m watching, but not yet vested in new stocks as waiting for signals - may miss the boat, but patience is always safer.        One of the signal is the fallout from Russian debt now that the rating agencies have junked just about anything Russian.    Who hold the most Russian debt?       There may be a knockon effect from the massive defaults, we don' t know.     There are a number of Russian banks that are active in the financial markets, here in Singapore too.             The world is too connected now to assume nothing happens to us from 1 defaulting entity.      So the rising inflation and energy prices is only a part of the risks that has been surfaced.

Putin is bent on taking Ukraine, that attitude did not change since the start of the invasion until today.      Those who can' t see this keep on talking about possibility of ceasefire through talks as if they are of any use.     The Russians have gone back on their word time and again.      The West did shift a bit on support for Ukraine but we have yet to see it materialized instead of just talk.          Like the Polish planes to be sent to Ukraine - this was talked about, but there is no news that this has been done.     We do not know whether there are issues faced by the Poles, their country being a NATO member - not to enter the war directly or indirectly.          At the start, the West continued to import oil and gas from Russia - even after sanctions, but is now moving to stopping imports.  There is a shift in sentiment.     So it' s gone beyond economics, back to humanitarian issues.       As for us, the spillover effects are likely higher inflation and especially electricity.    Not good for stock markets.

Ukraine war: Oil price rises again due to fears over Russian shortfallOil prices rose on Thursday amid confusion over whether major producers would help to plug a gap in supplies from Russia. The United Arab Emirates had appeared to push members of the Opec producer group to raise output, only for the UAE' s energy minister to quash hopes. |

An instructive video-report from Crimea, based on real-life developments. And antidote to the fairy tales relentlessly flogged by the West.
It also highlights a little-mentioned aspect of the Ukraine conflict -- civil war -- as well as the military strategy of the Russian Army.

More important is the weakness of the Russian army which led to Putin threatening to use nuclear weapons, the articles are quite revealing.      Raises the possibility Putin may be thrown out of office for incompetence.    Noone really knows how many Russians were killed - all just guessing and most likely are wrong.
