Do you remember how the list of announcements in 2013  as GIC  divests the 12.5% stake? I still think it is too much effort if GIC just want to divest a portion of their own stake this round. In the previous round, it  also seems  like GLP is not involved with the due  diligence and etc.

I wonder what was the prevailing P/B ratio of GLP at the stake sale price of $2.60 in February 2013 then... Anyone please can guide me from which online resources I can go to to find out?

The stake sold to the Japanese investor in February 2013 was at $2.60...forward three years to 2017 now... Any further stake sale can't be at this price range right? GLP has grown since then. Furthermore at the recent traded price of $2.75, it's just 1.0 P/B now (correct me if I'm wrong)

First, I like to congratulate GLP forum input here....honestly it is one of the much better one ....w some reasons backing which input. Mailailen . I totally agree with your input that a partial sale is very unlikely .....DO GIC need this ? ( claim of give face to CHina etc dont stand in business here.) ALSO ....dont forget that Blackstone and other consortium aare also fightling ... 1)  ANY one of them cld and wld offer an out right take over. ( why wld the chinese side ONLY one the china portion and stand to lost out) Further ...a global logictic hub w Japn, USA and Brazil covering south america ....is trule what CHINA wants ...right) 2.) GIC really dont need to sell partial and lost control ?  For what ?  Answer to investor ....and let the stock grow and worth more $$ and found that its has sold off so much shares ?  LOL .....wld u do that I am vested , so I dont want to sound I am very pro this deal .....BUT there so many indications over the last mths.....DYODD 1. Prices are on the upwards movement all this time ( till the last shortist action) 2. Large volumes are collected/accumulated ....if only partial of GIC is purchase....do they need to scoop so much fm the market ? 3. NOT one ....Varous parties are fghting from it ....beside the big 3 ....there are still others....so ? 4. Due deligence process is now on going .....if partial its more like just the 2 parties involved or just a GIC and other party discussion right ? SO ...we would start to have more noises...more input and sometime even scary inputs.... like last week attack on its share price. At the end ....we all know the bk value....we know other logistic compines. p/Bk times of more than 1.......ONLY factor is we have to wait. So fellow investors......as long as u can hold....over $3 is so very likely .( common calculation and logic) Its not far away......reward is on its way . Happy investing.   3.

When Gic say enhancing shareholder value, it really mean enhancing GIC own value. We are lucky as we are in same boat with GIC now, and can tag along.

Agreed, I doubt it will be a partial sale of GIC' s stake, they have already done that once in Feb 2013 and it didn' t go through such a long process then. If its not a full takeout, it will most likely be Chinese assets to Chinese buyers and the rest to the Americans.

Anyway in the event that it is not a full sale event, it won' t be a partial sale of GIC stake. The process won' t be so long, if it is just a partial sale of the 37% stake GIC holds. Secondly, it doesn' t enhance  any value. Thirdly, why would  GIC do a  partial sale to  ' lose' its controlling stake? Lack capital?  If they want to cash in, they would have cash in all. In the event that they are not in discussion for a controlling stake or takeover offer, these are the more likely scenarios. (1) Farming out a geographical region to the bidders.  Maybe the Chinese buyers really want to fork out top dollars but only for the China business. (2) Some sort of merger/colloboration arrangement. Maybe the bidders will get a significant stake in GLP in exchange for consolidation of some ecommerce biz or something synergistic. |

If GIC is the one to do buy out, they should make offer 2.20 when the price is 1.80.

Unless a compelling offer price which can' t be refused is made, guess a full takeover is unlike,y to materialise as there are just too many institutional shareholders having a stake in GLP.   Is the Chinese consortium wiling to make such an offer is anybody' s guess.

If GIC' s intention has all along been to reduce its stake in GLP, then this option runs contrary to the goal of " choosing the best option to enhance shareholder value" . It is not genuine in its communication to its shareholders. It could have just communicated that it is looking for suitable bidders to buy out part of its shares. Things will be clearer from day one and the market would have been calm. Why spent so much time and effort to recruit independent directors/auditors/lawyers for the review when all the while GIC' s intention is simply to find a buyer for its shares. Even though GLP has been coy and non-committal in its review updates, one cannot deny the fact that the review exercise had reports indicating of the competitive bids and imminent takeover. This has created unnecessary expectation and anxiety in the market, and with a real possibility that many investors will be disappointed, if there is no takeover. GIC' s credibility is at stake here and needs to be more upfront in its real intention behind the review. Why would GIC reduce its stake and let the Chinese consortium run the show when it will know that the price will only increase after that? How is it going to justify to its management and to investors that this is the best option for them and for the investors at large? Also, it has just purchased the logistic group in Europe. Unless GIC is desperate for funds, buying out its share in this deal simply does not make sense to me. Anyway, this is just my view. I must qualify myself here - I am a  layman, not an experienced investor. I am simply writing base on what my brain tells me.

It may not be in the near term and we cannot rule out in the long term.Once the new SH is in full control and market dynamics are in its favour I think a possible buyout in the future is still likely if the condition are right.

Thks for expressing my thought here.At least yr posting is more sane and level headed. In fact prior to the 27/2 announcement, there are reports mentioning of a partial sale option and one   even indicated GIC could reduce its stake from 37% to 10% just to maintain a board seat and allow the new major SH (chinese consortium ..my guess )who has a better clout based on their proposal to take charge and control in this strategic asset.

So, it looks like a partial sale by GIC is highly probable.   If that' s the case, there is limited upside to GLP share price going forward until the scheme of us finalised.   There won' t be any control premium since it' s not going to be a full takeover!

Luckily we are not talking about an auction. More so , this is a global logistic company with large investment from a WORLD class investment Fund GIC where all things are accountable. Good luck

If you have been in a public auction, a tendering process for a artwork may not be settled at the base price depending on the urgency of the buyer to acquire. Sometimes they are complex and rapid.  As for justification, my friends, there are bigger forces beyond our understanding, with regards to relationhip between small and big countries. My thoughts. Peace and calm to all. DYOHW |
