I dont understand why Singapore would lift the ban on Fukushima foodstuff. The Japanese have shown they cannot be trusted as far as Fukushima is concerned.   Time after time they claimed nothing serious happened during the disaster and long after it happened they admit tainted water used to cool the reactors leaked into the ocean and contaminated the seafood.   So are their garden produce.   One of the most dangerous radio active and very dangerous elements to leak from Fukushima reactors is ceasium, which has a half life of more then 30 years, meaning after more than 30 years half the original amount of ceasium are still active to poison life. Yet within 3 years Singapore lifted the ban!   Avoid Japan and Japanese food!

http://rt.com/news/164292-ukraine-plane-down-slavyansk/ anti-Kiev militia says it has downed Ukrainian army&rsquo s An-30B plane near the city of Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine. The self-defense forces told Russian media that the Ukrainian military used the aircraft for " surveillance." " During the whole day a Ukrainian surveillance plane was hovering [over Slavyansk]. Self-defense forces downed it &ndash one engine caught fire,&rdquo a local militia representative was cited as saying by Itar-Tass news agency.
Another militia member told RIA Novosti that the aircraft was flying over the city center and self-defense forces shot it down using anti-aircraft guns. He added that the pilots managed to eject while the aircraft crashed near the village of Mayak. The commander of the Slavyansk self-defense forces, Igor Strelkov, said that there were four pilots, adding that Kiev sent two helicopters to find its troops. As self-defense representatives told the press, they saw black smoke billowing over the spot where the aircraft crashed. There has not been any official confirmation of the crash from Kiev. An An-30B is a twin-engine, four-crew aircraft.

FINALLY expert-speak out about body-recovery-team. Hope the Others shut up.Dutch expert says Ukraine body recovery team ' did a hell of a job' By By Peter Graff | Reuters  &ndash   Mon, Jul 21, 2014https://sg.news.yahoo.com/dutch-expert-says-ukraine-body-recovery-team-did-131202481--finance.html   By Peter Graff HRABOVE Ukraine (Reuters) - The Dutch head of a team sent to identify the victims of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 praised the Ukrainian recovery workers who collected hundreds of bodies from a giant swathe of land in a war zone for doing a " hell of a job" . Peter van Vliet, leader of a 3-man team of Dutch body identification experts, the first international investigators to visit the crash area, said his priority would be getting hundreds of bodies now stored in refrigerated rail cars to a location where they can be identified and sent home. Despite reports that some of the bodies may have been looted and were never properly secured during days lying out in summer sun, van Vliet expressed admiration for the recovery crews that gathered them. " I' m very impressed about the work that was done over here," he said after inspecting the main crash site, where bodies were still being found a day earlier pinned under chunks of aircraft wreckage. Citing the heat and the scale of the site, he said: " I think they did a hell of a job in a hell of a place."   .............. My first priority is identifying the victims,"             (-------RETURNN to the families (Editing by Giles Elgood)   |

Developers' pessimism deepens in Q2
Rising construction costs, inflation, interest rates seen roiling market

DEVELOPERS are more pessimistic about the property market in the coming six months, citing rising cost of construction, inflation, and interest rates as factors that will likely have an adverse impact on market conditions. The NUS-Redas Real Estate Sentiment Index Survey' s Future Sentiment Index - which measures sentiments towards the market outlook over the next six months - fell to 3.4 in Q2 compared with 3.9 in Q1. A score under five indicates deteriorating market conditions while scores above five indicate improving conditions. Meanwhile, the Current Sentiment Index slipped marginally, from 3.7 in the last quarter to 3.6. Taken on a year-on-year basis, the Composite Sentiment Index (which measures overall sentiment) was weaker at 3.5 in Q2 compared to 4.5 previously. Looking ahead into the next six months, the key potential risks are rising inflation/interest rates as identified by 75.4 per cent of respondents and rising cost of construction (63.1 per cent). Equally worrying is the excessive supply of new property launches and a slowdown in the global economy, which were identified by 53.8 per cent of respondents. However, 31.7 per cent of developers surveyed said that they expect moderately more residential launches in the coming six months, while 29.3 per cent said that they expect residential launches to hold at the same level. In terms of unit price change, 26.8 per cent of them anticipate that residential prices will hold in the next six months, up from 26.3 per cent in the previous quarter. Majority of developers still expect unit prices to be moderately less (63.4 per cent compared with 64.8 per cent previously). Of the various property sectors, prime and suburban residential sectors were the worst performing segments according to the survey. The prime residential sector showed a current net balance of -72 per cent and a future net balance of -69 per cent while the suburban residential sector showed a current net balance of -63 per cent and a future net balance of -65 per cent in Q2. The current and future net balance percentage is defined as the difference between the proportion of respondents who have selected positive options and the proportion who selected negative options. On the flipside, office was the best performing sector, with a current net balance of +41 per cent and a future net balance of +32 per cent. In light of the high transaction cost and high property prices, 77.8 per cent of respondents said there will likely be strong outflows of investments into overseas real state markets in the coming 12 months. These markets include the United Kingdom, Australia, and Malaysia   |

Resilient STI scales new high again
Rise comes despite Wall Street decline, and is accompanied by gains in other regional bourses

WITH surprising resilience, the local bourse' s key index marched upwards, unhindered by the overnight losses on Wall Street and rising global tension, to reach another new 52-week high yesterday. The Straits Times Index (STI) rose 2.64 points or 0.1 per cent to finish at 3,316.91 for the sixth consecutive trading day. The rise took place alongside gains in other regional bourses: Japan' s Nikkei 225 rose 0.8 per cent, Hong Kong' s Hang Seng climbed 1.7 per cent to an eight-month high, while China' s Shanghai Composite was up one per cent. The gains took place as tensions eased somewhat after pro-Russian rebels, accused of shooting down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 which was flying over Ukraine' s airspace, handed over the black boxes to the Malaysian authorities. Overnight falls in US stocks on Monday as investors took profit on last Friday' s big gains and ahead of a full swing of the earnings season saw the Dow shed 0.3 per cent the S& P 500 and Nasdaq retreated 0.2 per cent. This week, more than a third of the Dow' s components and nearly 150 of the S& P 500 will release their financial scorecards for the reporting season.   |

Markets OverviewTuesday Close:
Stocks are back in ' vroom vroom' mode A dose of healthy company earnings gave investors extra energy Tuesday.Stocks march ahead: It' s hard to keep this market down. The S& P 500 hit another all time high Tuesday before pulling back slightly. It still gained half a percent for the day. The Dow rose 60 points and is within spitting distance of its record close, which occurred last week. The Nasdaq moved higher as well. European markets also notched out gains as tensions in Ukraine appeared to ease slightly. After delays and setbacks, a train carrying the bodies of most of those who died in the MH17 plane crash began moving out of eastern Ukraine. Still, EU officials are meeting Tuesday to discuss further sanctions against Russia in a bid to end its support for separatist rebels in Ukraine. Western leaders say the bulk of evidence suggests the rebels shot down the Malaysia Airlines plane. Russia' s stock market, the MICEX, was up Tuesday, but is still down over 4.5% for the month.     |
