Only when it is listed in Nasdaq.
I did a check yesterday and found that there are 217 Chinese companies listed in Nasdaq but none of Singapore companies is there. Maybe Zom Bee will be the first since it was the world's biggest taxi company.

Conmen con people for their own vested interest. Otherwise why would they bother to waste time writing long stories. Surely not to practise English edsay writing. They wouldnt buy after they conned people to buy. They sell without even saying good-bye if people believe them and buy to push up the prices.
This counter is very easy to con. Many 'investers' dont even know that CDG Taxis earns from the taxi drivers and not the riders. They also dont know that bus fares go to LTA, and that all the buses, depots, trains and rail belong to the government and not CDG. Many Pioneer Uncles bought SBS long time ago because they wanted to enjoy the bus fare concessions, not for investment. And they have probably forgotten that they are still holding the shares. |

Don't just focus on taxi lah ... Singapore is also increasingly allowing only Singaporeans to gain vocational driving licences. This, too, helps ComfortDelGro. As per the new requirements for Private Hire Car Driver?s Vocational License, only Singaporeans aged 30 and above with a year?s driving experience can apply for one. This automatically narrows the pool of drivers ride-hailing companies can hire. Licenses will only be issued to drivers who fit the new profile. Existing drivers who do not will be grandfathered in. ?The levelling of this requirement between PHV and taxi drivers helps in further expanding the pool, especially in this period where demand for [point-to-point] transportation is lower,? said Sim. All in all, ComfortDelGro is better placed to recover with its low gearing and investments for the future. Especially with its bus business. The recent bus contracts that have been awarded to its rival operator Tower Transit bode well for ComfortDelGro. The bid that won was not the lowest, indicating that price isn?t the only factor the LTA considers. It?s focusing on quality, suggested Sim. This could allow ComfortDelGro to leverage its 40-plus years of experience running bus services in Singapore. Public transport will remain the backbone of Singapore?s mobility, and some other cities that ComfortDelGro operates in. For instance, in London?another key market?there have been plans to achieve 80% of all trips via foot, cycle or public transport, playing into the operator?s bus routes there. Rivals, meanwhile, are deepening their ties with Grab. SMRT has launched an app with Grab for its drivers this month. But ComfortDelGro has something Grab struggles with. Profitability. ComfortDelGro has been profitable in its Singapore operations despite the ride-hailing wave, not because of it. The low gearing that ComfortDelGro has could also be the dry powder to acquire companies, with DBS? Sim noting that overseas acquisition could be an opportunity. Even the competition from ride-hailing companies could be an opportunity. ?Also, we expect [point-to-point] industry consolidation, and ComfortDelGro could play a role should the deal mechanics and pricing be favourable for them,? said Sim. The company laid some groundwork for its future prior to Covid-19, with its US$100 million venture fund started in January 2019. The fund has made investments in technology startups dealing with transport. Its portfolio counts SWAT, a mobility startup that optimises vehicles and routes for utilisation and services levels. SWAT was part of a trial for on-demand public buses with the LTA and is now working with ComfortDelGro to extend this to its bus and taxi fleets in Singapore and overseas. Its other investments include Haulio, a logistics startup that matches supply and demand between trucking jobs and trucking companies, and an autonomous vehicle safety testing and compliance startup, Foretellix. These investments could take ComfortDelGro beyond just transport into testing autonomous services and helping it optimise its fleet. With autonomous vehicles on the horizon, public transport going this way is a no-brainer. ComfortDelGro is also installing fast chargers for its budding electric taxi fleet. A significant part of Singapore?s public transport past, ComfortDelGro is determined to also play a part in the country?s mobility future. |
