Not sure if the recent announcement by MAS about the 45b funds being released for government investments or if they would put some money in ST engg. However, market is cautious about an impending Chinese retaliation against Trump&rsquo s action. Can go either way from here (obviously) haha.. |

Maybe the more experienced ones can offer some advice. But today Chinese newspapers has a good write up about ST Engineering. Maybe it is good to read it to have an understanding of the company. It also touched on the new contract won, among points covered, it highlights project execution risks and thin profits. And one final point to add: ST Engineering current share price is historically quite high. Best to monitor its movement for a while before you make any move. |

ST engineering has a good future outlook.. it's a market leader and backed by government. Big name companies also wanted to secure contracts with them. Such stock is good for holding long-term as the price will rise even higher. | ||||

Mid day break: 3.97 Mid day high: 3.98 Big hands are still buying. No signs of slowing down or stopping. Guess it will continue for at least a short while. Back in late 2017 when PM LHL made the trip to Washington to meet D Trump and came back with the news that SIA bought billions worth of Boeing planes (787), many people were not happy why Singapore would give the business to USA. Quite recently, RSAF decided to buy the overpriced F-35. Now it is quite evident why it is very important to continue to have business deals with a close ally. Many may not like Trump, including me. But knowing Trump, as a businessman President, he has a lot of influencing power. Of course there is also a need to juggle the balance between dealings with USA & China. Hoping for more mega deals to come our way.. |

Share outstanding : 3.12bil contract value : 1 bil if 25% profit margin = 0.25bil then profit per share =$ 0.08 (0.25÷ 3.12=0.0813) if all options exercised, contract value will be 2.6bil then profit per share = $0.208 (2.6 × 0.0813)

ST Engineering kept at ' buy' by UOB and Maybank on recent contract wins 25/04/19, 02:39 pm SINGAPORE (Apr 25): UOB KayHian and Maybank KimEng are maintaining their &ldquo buy&rdquo call on ST Engineering with target prices of $4.70 and $4.30 respectively given its recent contract wins, especially in the marine division. On Wednesday, ST Engineering (STE) announced US subsidiary, VT Halter Marine (VTHM), had secured a US$746 million ($1 billion) contract to build a single Polar Security Cutter (PSV), previously known as heavy icebreaker by 2024. VTHM has also secured an option to build two similar PSVs and with all options exercised, the total value of the contracts could amount to $2.6 billion. In a Thursday report, UOB analyst K Ajith says the full exercise of the option is highly likely as press reports have quoted the department of Homeland Security as requiring a total of six icebreakers. In a separate report by Maybank on the same day, analyst Neel Sinha says the win comes after a prolonged drought of contracts for STE&rsquo s marine division and likely signals a turnaround for the division. Taking into the latest win by VT Halter Marine, YTD order win by the marine division amounts to $1 billion, says Sinha, which is higher than the $991 million of contracts won for the whole of 2018. More importantly, the single largest contract by VTHM in over a decade should also improve the division&rsquo s 3-5 year growth outlook as the project is a &ldquo breakthrough&rdquo for STE in terms of US defence contracts, adds Sinha. Year to date, STE has already secured 65% of 2018&rsquo s $4.8 billion total contract wins, says UOB&rsquo s Ajith. The aerospace sector received contracts worth about $1.3 billion, including a 10-year maintenance contract to service 160 aircraft for a new airline customer. The electronics sector also won contracts worth $818 million which included smart rail contracts for Bangkok MRT, Wuxi Metro and Taiwan Railway Authority.
