Just ask Li Kashing or Victor Li. Salim unless its role is juz a "semi conductor" , i think they are making a very bad investment.

Let's disect the details below: SM are both considered as strategic investors, in for the long haul in Hy and the 3 parties have definite synergy effects. Someone compared this with Ezion white knights but over there, they are mostly opportunists or sleeping investors, including our state fund Tenasek's Pavilion Capital Fund. S is already a major power supplier in Singapore. M is supplying LNG to Singapore and M can in future directly supply LNG to TS. TS is still not making money at the beginning of the year but the equation have changed since as tariffs for water and electricity have gone up 20% to 30% this year. SM together with Hy habe say to keep the assets intact, so the cash will be used to pay off Perps and bonds, in this priority. If TS is generating positive cash flow now, MS * Hy can pay off Maybank till the loan expire more than a decade down the road. As for calculation, an injection of $530m will translate to 40.5 cent based on SM total investment. 60/100 x $530m x 785m current shares = 40.5 cent. It will be another couple of months before suspension lifted as approval from authorities and voting from vested holders take time. By then, loads of currently trapped short-sellers will fight off with trapped retailers and new speculators to move the price. I'm expecting price to open in the range of 28 cent to 32 cents.
