Perhaps, don' t over commit though. A lot of people think it' s undervalued too. But in our crazy mkt, it can remain undervalued for the longest time. So, u must have the staying power n patience to hold just in case. Also, holding has its opportunity cost, of course.

Just bear in mind though that when there are major mkt sell-downs again, all the negative stories abt the our three local banking institutions will re-surface without fail. I' ve witnessed this over n over again. N like I said before, when the bks present their results, they wld be significantly better than what had been smeared upon them. So, the next time it happens, for those overcome with fear, they shd be q-ing to withdrawing their $$$ instead if they believe the bks' balance sheets are so rotten. N, of course, for those waiting to buy DBS at $6, despair not ... there' ll always be a next time, cos the mischief makers will appear out of nowhere during mkt tsunamis to hold ur hands .....

Our local banks are under value over the past months.....hitting below BOOK value. Yet Singapore 3 local banks are still very profitable and in fact having better profit in 2015 then the previous year. ( not sure about UOB as I did not follow this counter) Both OCBC and DBS has a solid balance sheet and has taken provision for NPL......and good dividends are also coming up Happy investing. |

SINGAPORE: DBS, the Republic&rsquo s largest lender, and Credit Suisse has cut its gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for the country for 2016. According to DBS forecasts released on Friday (Mar 11), the bank cut its GDP growth forecast for the country to 1.5 per cent for the year, down from an earlier projection of 2.1 per cent. If this happens, it will be the slowest pace of expansion since the global financial crisis in 2008/09. DBS said the manufacturing sector is in recession and the outlook is not improving. This weakness can be seen in electronics, which is facing a cyclical downturn, and in the oil and gas-related sector, which is undergoing a " drastic consolidation" . The bank added that services such as banking could slow down as well, noting that loans growth fell year-on-year in January. |

Not now since china export/Import data very ugly in first 2 months which might signal a contraction in SG 1q GDP which in turn would cause sti to sink in apr. The sell in may go away in june meant a weak 2q for sti, try jul
