Hunting for positive long-term prospects? Look no further than ST Engineering, says OCBC 13/06/19, 03:25 pm SINGAPORE (June 13): OCBC Investment Research is maintaining ST Engineering (STE) at &ldquo buy&rdquo given the group&rsquo s positive long-term prospects. STE recently announced its aerospace arm and Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), have incorporated a new JV, Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace Co. The JV company will provide component Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) solutions, and STE has a 49% stake in the JV. The new component MRO facilities are expected to begin operations in mid 2019. Separately, STE has also entered into a partnership agreement with Nokia on key areas such as 5G and Internet of Things (IoT). &ldquo The collaboration will allow both companies to cross sell their solutions and expand business offerings,&rdquo says analyst Low Pei Han in a Thursday report. STE will resell Nokia&rsquo s internet protocol (IP), optical networking and wireless broadband solutions which include 5G, last-mile and analytics. In turn, Nokia will incorporate STE&rsquo s Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and cybersecurity solutions in its global project offerings. Year to date, STE&rsquo s stock is up 17.2% compared to the STI&rsquo s 4.5% rise As at end March, STE has increased its order book to a high of $14.1 billion, out of which $4.2 billion will be delivered in 9M19. Looking ahead, potential catalysts include the US Postal Service&rsquo s contract for next-gen electric trucks, as well as the exercising of options for two polar security cutters by the US Coast Guard. In the longer term, OCBC expects further growth in order book with better traction in Smart City solutions and export of defence solutions. https://www.theedgesingapore.com/hunting-positive-long-term-prospects-look-no-further-st-engineering-says-ocbc |

Obvious candidate to short sell, over priced and low yield. Clearly no more room for upside and plenty of room for downside risks. $3 is a fair price to close short position.  | ||||

ST Engineering Q1 profit up 11% to S$131.1m WED, MAY 15, 2019 - 8:23 AM ST Engineering' s first-quarter net profit increased 11 per cent to S$131.1 million from S$117.7 million in the year ago period, on improved US shipbuilding performance in its marine sector and increased profits in aerospace and electronics. Earnings per share was 4.20 Singapore cents compared to 3.78 Singapore cents in the prior year.  The defence and engineering group' s shares closed down 0.5 per cent or S$0.02 at S$4.02 on Tuesday. No dividend was recommended for the quarter, same as the year-ago period. Revenue rose 5 per cent to S$1.73 billion from S$1.65 billion, boosted by its  aerospace and land systems sectors. While revenue increased, net profit for land systems declined by S$0.4 million or 3 per cent to S$15.2 million, mainly due to " unfavourable sales mix, higher operating expenses of its robotics business, lower other income and higher tax expense from absence of favourable tax finalisation adjustment" . &ldquo We had a good start to the year and our recent contract wins have increased our order book to a high of S$14.1 billion," said  Vincent Chong, president and CEO, ST Engineering. " Our focus remains on strengthening our core businesses and pursuing growth in Smart City and in the international defence business." The company said S$4.2 billion of its order book is  expected to be delivered in the remaining months of 2019. On the  acquisition  of  Belgium satellite telecoms firm Newtec Group, Mr Chong said it is expected to complete in the second half of 2019, and will combine with ST Engineering' s existing satellite communications business to further enhance the company' s value proposition for smart cities. https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/st-engineering-q1-profit-up-11-to-s1311m   |
