x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Singapore banks' weakening operating environment pressures ratings: Fitch Ratings TUE, JUL 07, 2020 - 1:44 PM FITCH Ratings aims to  review and resolve a rating watch negative (RWN) placed on DBS, OCBC and United Overseas Bank " in the next three months or so" , the credit ratings agency said in a report on Tuesday. Fitch Ratings in April  placed the three Singapore banks on RWN due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and " limited headroom" in their AA- viability rating-driven ratings. The  potential outcomes of the review are a downgrade of the three lenders' issuer default ratings to A+ and their viability ratings to a+, or an affirmation at AA- and aa- with either a negative or stable outlook, analysts  Tania Gold,  Priscilla Tjitra and  Willie Tanoto wrote. They said a ratings downgrade could be triggered by a lower operating environment (OE) score and/or a weaker financial profile.   The OE acts as a constraint on the viability ratings of banks. The three banks' OE score of aa- is at the same level as their viability ratings-driven issuer default ratings of AA-, the analysts added. SEE ALSO Kenneth Lai named OCBC' s head of global treasury, in an internal appointment   The OE score could be lowered if there is a " worse-than-expected slowdown or slower-than-expected recovery" in the key markets the three lenders operate in, they said. Fitch Ratings uses a blended OE score for the banks to take into account the fact that less than half of their loans are in Singapore.  " The aa-/negative OE score is weighed down by the banks' operations in overseas markets where we assess the operating environment to be of higher risk," the analysts said. " These markets are significant contributors to the banks' growth prospects, and while they have been stable in recent years, they are currently also under stress." The OE scores of the major Asean markets that the lenders have a presence in - such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia - were downgraded by Fitch Ratings this year. The analysts said the downgrades were mainly driven by the downward revision in Fitch Ratings' gross domestic product forecasts for these markets amid the pandemic. Singapore' s standalone OE score was also put on a negative outlook " to reflect the impact of the pandemic" , they added. In addition to the OE, Fitch Ratings in April placed the three banks' asset quality, earnings and profitability, as well as capitalisation and leverage scores on negative outlooks due to the pandemic.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	The past two and half weeks have been choppy for stock markets.  So expect volatility and downward pressure for a prolong period until US election is over and/or vaccine for COVID-19 is available and/or calmer political climate.  There wil be lots of wayang from the US because of the coming POTUS election, and HK situation is a political boilerroom.  One thing is for certain - BBs are not in the market for sometime already (based of thin volume), and this means little movement either direction until BBs comes to town. There' s no point trading that much for you' ll only be feeding the brokers these days.  Just nimble here and there and keep for better days, and reevaluate [position when the next reporting cycle comes around.  Like my late father-in-law used to say in Cantonese - Know early, no beggars!  .We all know the market is down from its year high, so it means upside potential is there.  Keep the faith and hang in there. kandinsky      ( Date: 02-Jul-2020 13:25) Posted: Have the sense that sg stocks are dancing around in circles, really getting nowhere.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	DLC too risky.. of coz high risk high returns. I see too many uncertainty.. what if US and China trade deal cancel due to HK? I dont think china is ok to let US harassing them. Spikes in covid can also cause huge drop.. DLC for day traders.. and need stop loss and take profit level. It u long or short, as long as u got holding power, the mkt may still recover in your direction. DLC too risky? Even if u day trader, a sudden announcement of cancellation of trade deal may wipe out your position?

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	UOB fundamentally we have a pretty divided opinion from the institutional investors. While only 40% of the analysts think it is a buy while 45% think it is hold. However, the buy ratio have increased from the bottom in May 2020 which indicates more analysts are turning bullish on UOB as the economy reopens. Technically, it is testing the upside confirmation where the horizontal pullback is. Once price breaks out, more upside is available. DLC is also a good way to trade this setup since it makes advantage of more leverage.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	My end of day view on UOB. Price is currently coming close to testing ascending trendline support. I expect price to do a small pull back to test the ascending support line before doing a bounce and pushing higher to cover up the gap. MACD still below 0 showing there is still some slight bearish momentum. However it looks poised to turn up. I have taken the liberty of putting the DLC DDWW levels in line with the underlying for easier reference
