Strong interest by deep pocket investors to accumulate. To convince the SCI retail shareholder to sell their SMM shares at the cheap, the SMM accumulators are likely the same people pushng up SCI share price. SCI shareholders would then be willing to sell their SMM shares when they calculated that 4.9*16.5 + 1.33 = $2.14 is 10+% higher than SCI share price before the distribution. Once the selling by SCI retail shareholders dry up in the next few weeks, SCI shares would likely drop below $1. The interest of the big boys including Temasek has always been to buy more SMM shares at the cheap. SCI is in a very matured business. It can be argued that almost anyone can run a power plant nowadays. You can only get the contract only when you are willing undercut your competitors substantially and agree to take on a huge debt to finance or fund the project. SCI has over $11 billion debt and make only $200-300 million on a good year. $2.6 billion of its debt is due in the next 12mths. The probability of a Temasek led rights issue to recapitalise SCI is high based on its current trajectory. That' s why SCI need to do an India IPO at the cheap urgently to avert an impending cash crunch. You know how bad SCI' s cashflow is when they have to announce to the world recently  that they managed to secure a meagre $40 million loan to fund their solar contract.  Bear in mind that Hyflux went under when they try to get into the highly competitive and volatile " electricity" business. I am vested in SMM, having subsribed to their rights and excess rights. Bought a bit more over the past week. We are currently in talks for several such opportunities, having engaged our prospects early in the project life-cycle with solutions for optimising project execution as well as safety and efficiency in post-delivery field operations. Such additional technical requirements, which we believe play to our strengths, would however require longer planning and development durations before the projects are awarded. Going into FY 2021, we are optimistic about our negotiations for several major projects, including the Equnior Wisting field FPSO which we are concluding a FEED using our proprietary Sevan cylindrical Design. This puts Sembmarine in a favourable position to secure the contract this year. Implication: Sembmarine is no longer interested in ikan bilis deals. They are only going after the Marlins. Kudos to CEO Wong who has the vision to make that bold change. Another crowning gem is the UK Sofia Substation, currently on schedule toi be the largest windfarm in the world when completed. Shell Vito is ongoing while UK Sofia and Shell Whale are pending FID in the next 2-3months. Once FID is cleared, Sembmarine will be occupied for the whole of 2022 even without any major new projects. Just take on some repair/ upgtrade/ conversion jobs to fill the gaps would do.

x 0   x 1  Alert Admin	The problem (or strength, depending which side you are on) with Temasek is that they are very stingy when it comes to buyout. Would not pay a single cent more than necessary. Remember, they have to pay our special account and retirement account interestr of 4-5%p.a. They are likely trying to haggle down the buyout price for Keppel OM given the recent major projects cancellation and delay. Keppel on the other hand is in no duress to sell as they know the offshore turnaround is happening right about now, though it will not be visible in the financial statements until 1-2years down the road. There lies the conundrum. One party stingy as ever, the other thinking it has a gem to sell.
