" We don' t prescribe provisioning, but in the process of continuous questions, they know that they need to be conservative and prudent when it comes to provisioning. Long before the loan goes bad, you should have provided fully for it," said MAS managing director Ravi Menon at a press briefing.

Isn't $700m exposure equivalent to half of Swiber total liabilities very risky? How did DBS do its due diligence and make such decision? 3. Based on DBS statement, Swiber loan is not part of DBS bad debt provision. This shows there is lapse in DBS bad debt treatment process. Will DBS do a review on all its loan to make sure they reflect the true scenario? 4. Swiber owes DBS $700m, but close shop because a much much smaller creditor ($20m?). Is DBS not aggressive enough in recovering debt?
